About this listen

A Primarchs Audiobook

Who better to relate the tale of Alpharius than the primarch himself? As he tells of his deeds, bear one thing in mind: nothing can be trusted when it comes from serpent's mouth.

Listen to it because:

I am Alpharius...and so are you.

The story:

Legends abound of the glorious - or infamous - deeds of the emperor's sons. Yet almost nothing is known of Alpharius, the most mysterious of them all, for the lord of the Alpha Legion is unparalleled in the art of obfuscation. Such are his gifts of secrecy and deceit that even his rediscovery has remained an enigma - until now. But when the tale comes from the serpent’s mouth, where do the lies end and the truth begin?

Written by Mike Brooks. Narrated by Jonathan Keeble.

A solid interpretation

Brooks understands Warhammer 40K well, and he understands the Horus Heresy series' brief. This book is faithful to both and should be enjoyed by any fan of the franchise. Keeble treats the text with the same professionalism he brings to every performance, and his sense of pacing is near-perfect. I recommend this audiobook heartily, though I bought it on £2.99 sale, as it's a tad too short to justify the usual price! If you have a spare credit, you like Brooks' other works, or you can get it on sale, I say go for it! Hydra Dominatus!

When one....

....realises they are but half. Do you like 40K, if yes then this is a 5 Star novel. Easily one of the best Primarch novels, if not the best. Absolutely engrossing. Not to be missed for 30K and 40K fans.

I am Alpharius...or am I??

One of my favourite books of the Primarch series so far. It feels different to the other books, as you may expect, and seems to give a better overall background to the character. Unless of course, it's all a lie.

An excellent insight

A thoroughly entertaining read from start to finish, and a rare point of view from a primarch. Highly recommend listening to the Constantin Valdor primarch novel first, as they complement one another and overlap

Best book since the first trilogy

It begins with a deception and may end with one as well. Absolutely riveting book and gives me a whole new level of respect for 20th and its primarch(s). Keeble is great as always.

40k Autobiography

This is such a good way to tell a story, thought the many eyes of Alpharius. The audio performance, as always for Keeble, is fantastic. I actively seek out books that are read by him.
