Summary
Charlie Baxter has it all. A beautiful house, successful company and a set of tattoos that light women on fire at the mere sight of them. Not to mention, she’s tall and gorgeous! Life is good… Well, that is until her old music teacher calls insisting she return to her old school to take part in their annual charity ball. Charlie left Pickerton Academy behind twenty years ago. She also left behind the heartache caused by the only girl she ever loved.
Emilie Martin is an international superstar. She’s had fame and fortune for the past two decades, but what she really wants now is a break. Maybe a couple of weeks in the English countryside and a visit to her old school is just what she needs. Sounds perfect, and it would be if it weren’t for the fact it meant seeing the one person Emilie has pined over for twenty years. The girl that got away. No, the girl Emilie threw away.
With both women on a collision course with their past, can they put all the hurt behind them and start again? Can they keep their hands off each other long enough to really figure out what they want?

such a relatable story with down to earth characters
I loved everything about the actual story, from the characters and the normal way they reacted to situations, to the dialogue that they used. I found myself laughing outloud and audibley gasping in shock and often realising I had a smile on my face. I loved the way the narrator brought each of the characters personalities to life and put so much expression into the way they spoke, but was disappointed with her narration itself which I found very bland, uninspiring and expressionless. This was a shame as I could not have brought so much life to the characters if I'd read the book but often wished I had been reading it during the narration parts.

Second chance at its finest!
I loved Charlie Baxter and as a best friend she has always been a star in the series!
Now, we find out so much more about her and her past.
We meet her once great love who has not been banished from her heart to this day, even though they went through a lot as young adults and had a dramatic separation.
Charlie's heart was broken and now, after almost 20 years, they see each other again...
It's hot and emotional, but also mysterious.
Emilie Martin is now a famous singer, but she knows that her heart has always belonged to Charlotte and is also aware of her mistake. She needs to make this right this time and apologize…
The narrator once again brought extremely beautiful voices to the characters and the accents were perfect!
