Summary
He'll make you his angel, but first you have to die....
After a turbulent time, DCI Ryan's life is finally beginning to return to normal, and he's looking forward to spending an uneventful Easter bank holiday weekend with his fiancée. Then, on Good Friday morning, he is called out to a crime scene at one of the largest cemeteries in Newcastle. The body of a redheaded woman has been found buried in a shallow grave, and the killer has given her wings, like an angel. Soon another woman is found at a different cemetery, followed quickly by another. Panic spreads like wildfire as a new serial killer is born, and Ryan's band of detectives must work around the clock to unmask him before he can strike again. Murder and mystery are peppered with romance and humour in this fast-paced crime whodunit set amidst the spectacular Northumbrian landscape.

another good story from Northumberland
This is the fourth book in this series I have listened to and I have enjoyed them all. I like Jonathan Keeble as a narrator. Can't wait for the next one owing to cliffhanger at the end amongst other things

Irritating Americanisms
Why does an English woman, writing a novel set in England, feel the need to write in American English?

Good Fast paced story
Good story, excellently narrated. Felt it was rushed at the end and the plots could have had more detail in the final chapters.
Despite this I will listen to the next book. It was left on a cliff hanger which certainly sets it up for the next volume nicely. I will return to the Harry Bosch series for a few more books before I listen to more DCI Ryan, as it has more detail in the crime element and that is what it important in a murder inquiry rather than a fast paced romp.

Compulsive listening
Having read most of the series on Kindle, which didn’t enthral, I listened to Holy Island on Audible and found it fascinating. Infinitely more engaging than the printed word, the story really came to life. Characters developed personalities, situations more plausible. Since then I have heard the next two, which adapt as Audio books very well. Warmly recommend, and many thanks to the excellent reader.

good work
a little predictable but all in all a really good story that pulls well on all of the underlying DCI Ryan story arcs. a gentle way to move away from "the circle", still very much based around religion, but that's one of the reasons these books are so absorbing.
