Summary
Presenting an original audiobook performance of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play, starring the cast of the National Theatre's 2018 Broadway revival.
In this production, adapted especially for the listening experience, Andrew Garfield, Nathan Lane, and the entire cast recreate their acclaimed performances from the 2018 Tony Award-winning National Theatre revival of Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes. With narration by Bobby Cannavale and Edie Falco, and a musical score by Adrian Sutton, this audiobook is a compelling and immersive theatrical listening experience.
A play in two parts, "Millennium Approaches" and "Perestroika", Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes is a complex and insightful look into identity, community, justice, and redemption.
New Yorkers grapple with life and death, love and sex, and heaven and hell as the AIDS crisis intensifies during a time of political reaction—the Reagan Republican counterrevolution of the 1980s.
Published to celebrate the Broadway revival, this is a unique opportunity to hear one of the most honored and timeless plays in American history.

Probably the best dramatic text I have ever come across, the characters, story, actors...everything from start to finish is amazing.

Magnificent
I've seen the plays now, I think, three times. The TV Series once, Read the script. If you haven't seen the plays then this is a very good way to catch up and if you have seen them it is a very good way to remind yourself. One of the most important works of post WW2 drama in the English language.

Could recommend this enough
Such an amazing performance by the cast, I genuinely feel privileged to have heard it. Feels so intimate - like you’re sat on a table read. I’d never seen or heard of the plays before so I went in blind and can safely say it’ll be an audiobook Ill revisit often in the future.

Wonderful cast of a wonderful play
Wonderful audio version of Angels in America read by the National Theatre on Broadway cast which had slight differences from the London one, but the fabulous Andrew Garfield, Nathan Lane, Denise Gough and James McArdle are all here with Lee Pace as Joe Pitt. The scene directions are read by Bobby Cannavale and Edie Falco and the musical interludes are also included so perhaps less of an audio book and more of an audio play (bringing back happy memories of being lucky enough to see this production in London). The cast really bring the play to life and the comedy really comes through I found myself laughing several times. The dithering of Lewis very much comes to life and the fierceness of Belize makes you wish you had a friend like that. It is a wonderful play but I do wonder if the poignancy translates as well in the audio version, I plan to read it too so watch this space!

My mind is blown
I struggled to visualise many of the more dream like sequences and fantastical elements of the play. But loved the performances and the overall pacing of the play and reading

Modern classic
Engaging and as relevant as ever, alongside its historical resonance. A great cast who brought the audio recording alive.

Almost as wonderful as seeing it on stage!
I went to see the NT Live showing of this at the cinema and it was fantastic, utterly breathtaking and moving. It’s brilliant that they have done this recording - I wish they’d release the NT Live show on DVD too. The performances are just as moving and funny as they are on stage and the play itself, if you don’t know it, is truly brilliant. I can’t say anything without spoiling it but I think everyone on earth should be forced to sit down and listen to this. It’s incredibly deep and insightful and beautiful.

WOW!!!!
I missed the chance to see this at the theatre and thought this would be the next best thing. I was absolutely blown away by the performers (Especially Andrew Garfield) and the whole story. It captured me so much that I couldn't put it down and had to finish it.
