Summary

Three years have passed since the Jamaicans caused the apocalypse, and things in post-Armageddon Chicago have settled into a new kind of normal. Unfortunately, that "normal" includes collapsing skyscrapers, bands of bloodthirsty maniacs, and a dwindling cache of survival supplies. After watching his family, friends, and most of the non-sadistic elements of society crumble around him, Patrick decides it's time to cross one last item off his bucket list. He's going to Disney World.

This hilarious, heartfelt, gut-wrenching odyssey through post-apocalyptic America is a pilgrimage peppered with peril, as fellow survivors Patrick and Ben encounter a slew of odd characters, from zombie politicians and deranged survivalists to a milky-eyed oracle who doesn't have a lot of good news. Plus, it looks like Patrick may be hiding the real reason for their mission to the Magic Kingdom.

very Robert Rankin-esque

a high compliment from me is that this is very Robert Rankin-esque. I adore Mr Rankin. I have laughed out loud to this title more than a few times so far, the interactions and off hand comments made by characters are just sublime 🤌 I only wish it were double the length. I'll check more titles by this author, also the narrator made it come alive. nicely done all round

Not for me

I couldn't get into the story, just didn't interest me enough and the characters were starting to get on my nerves.

I can't continue listening to this drivel

Based on good reviews Id hoped for something dystopian and funny. Unfortunately I hate the absence of characterisation, the falling back on boring steroetypes, the encounters in which the main protagonist again miraculously gets out of situations by just being a super smart ass at just the right moment, helped by the fact everyone else is cast as an idiot. It reads like the fantasy of a smug arse who didn't bother with coming to grips with empathy. 5 hours in and although things are post apocalyptic nothing genuinely interesting has happened.
