About this listen
As the Tribulation Force continues its dramatic struggle against evil, Apollyon offers stunning apocalyptic visions. Richard Ferrone's riveting narration captures the suspense of the physical conflicts and the drama of the spiritual challenges. When Left Behind, the first book in LaHaye and Jenkins' inspirational saga, was published, it attracted millions of fans worldwide. Since then, each succeeding book has joined it on best-seller lists. Apollyon, the fifth volume, is a thrilling continuation of the battle between the followers of Christ and the forces of Nicolae, the Antichrist.

Narrator makes me cringe!
Another gripping book in the Left Behind series, which I've been listening to day and night.
Each book is introduced and appended by an ancient dude who sounds like a 100 year old emphysema patient. Not sure what that's about, unless it's one of the authors who is dying of old age?
The narrator's exaggerated American accent is sometimes very distracting. He sounds like a deep grainy-voiced voiced TV ad presenter selling cowboy liquor. Some words sound really strange to my (admittedly British) ears.
Toward turned into "toe-urrrd", futile is pronounced "feudal", and horror is "harrrrr".
Rayford helps look after his pregnant daughter Chloe. "Afteree braadderrr waadderrr", he went to speak to the doctor. I don't think I've heard an "h" throughout this whole book. If this is going to affect you the way it has me, I recommend giving the whole series a miss unless you REALLY REALLY want to find out what happens in the end times or are actually American yourself!
The trib saints meet in "Jeroozlum" for an amazing rally with Tsion Ben Judah, who is almost a "deeidy" to all his followers. There follows a series of horrific biblical plagues to "indoore", including horrible demon scorpion locusts.
I love how the authors have followed the Bible so closely and literally throughout the series, really bringing it alive.
The narrator seems incapable of using any accent or voice tone other than macho Marlboro-Man American, although the text gives clear directions that some of the characters have a strong Hebrew, Greek or Israeli accent or speak in broken English. All the women in the story get the same manly voice. There's also an Australian cab driver whose accent gets completely mangled in a feeble attempt to reproduce it! For a story with so many characters of different nationalities, it might have been an idea to find a narrator who was good at accents.
The authors are also fond of using American slang, as if trying self-consciously to sound cool and hip to appeal to a younger audience of cool dudes. So phrases like "hit paydirt", " ya got a good gig going man" and "moseying along" are liberally sprinkled throughout the book, making me cringe.
However, the story is so good that I have purchased the whole series since it was either listen to this guy or don't listen to the series at all!

I have been really enjoying this but….
So the first three book I had for free in the membership. The next books you have to individually pay for however the story is so very very repetitive I would like to listen to the rest but I feel the story could have been written in 4 books not 12 (I think!)
If they had all been within the membership I would have listened to all but I am not paying for a further 6 books that go over and over the same story. A real shame - never mind.
