Summary

Philosophy for busy people. Listen to this succinct account of the philosophy of Aristotle in just one hour.

The philosophy of Aristotle dominated Western thought for over a thousand years. He had a mind that mastered all disciplines from mathematics to politics and had a continuing impact on every sphere of knowledge he touched. Above all, Aristotle is credited with the founding of logic. He divided human knowledge into separate categories, and enabled our understanding of the world to develop in a systematic fashion.

This is an expert account of Aristotle’s life and philosophical ideas – entertainingly written and is above all easy listening. Also included are selections from Aristotle’s work, suggested further reading, and chronologies that place Aristotle in the context of the broader scheme of philosophy.

Excellent!

I liked the substance of the work, very easy to follow and understand.

Informative and well argued.

I recommend it for all those who are interested in Aristotle's ideas, and contributions to philosophy and science. Specially to students, remember it is a general introduction not very advanced philosophical discussion.

I give it a 5 star on story, performance because the author have given an exceptional overall introductory view on Aristotle in one hour. And the narrator performance is also exceptional.

Snapshot in the Life of Aristotle

I enjoyed this, short, sweet, accessible and at a good price.
Don't expect an analysis of Aristotle's teachings or any big revelations or life changing provoking thoughts but it is a good little story about the life of and I really enjoyed it as something different to listen to while cleaning the house!

Very entertaining summary

Some parts rely on the listener knowing the definition to certain high-level terms, but these are infrequent and can be overcome with a quick definition search

Not much discussion on the philosophy.

Has Aristotle: Philosophy in an Hour put you off other books in this genre?

No.

What about Jonathan Keeble’s performance did you like?

Good speaker - easy to listen to.

Any additional comments?

As with the whole series of "Philosophy in an Hour" the focus is mostly on the lives of the philosophers with about 25% on their philosophical reasoning.

Life Story

I thought it was more of a life story than any analysis of Aristotles teachings or thoughts
