About this listen
Love history? Know your stuff with History in an Hour.
The Reformation was a long struggle of ideas between the established Catholic Church and the questioning of faith brought about by the Renaissance in Western Europe. Started by Martin Luther in 1517, religious dissidence spread across Europe throughout the sixteenth century, causing wars, migration and disunity. By 1648 Henry VIII’s desire for divorce led him to break with the Catholic Church in Rome and form the Church of England.
The Reformation: History in an Hour is a clear and comprehensive look at this long and complex period of religious change. It explains the major causes of the Reformation and the differences between Protestants and Catholics. It will help you understand the significance of the Reformation in European history in just one hour.

Pitted account of the split from Rome
Very informative, concise summary of the Reformation. Will need to listen again to take it all in. The reader has a pleasant voice and good pace. Recommended for students of history and theology.

Excellent Account of The Reformation
There is enough information in this one hour draft to sweeten anyone with an interest or educational project. From start to finish we are given a clear concise over-all of the difficult times when Religion ruled Europe.
Clearly narrated smooth and precise with just enough eagerness to keep the storyline interesting to the very end. If anything; you are left thinking how you could listen for another hour.
So well done are these one hour accounts that you look forward to listening gain as there is so much information to absorb.

Clear, concise and flawlessly narrated.
This was wonderful! A good, straightforward review of the Reformation full of long-forgotten details. Jonathan Keeble's narration is beautiful. This man could read anything, and I would probably enjoy it immensely.

Too much in an hour
Given this was history in an hour, i found it far too complicated with dates thrown in left right and centre.
I’m not studying the subject, the aim of these quick short bursts of information is to gain a good understanding, the content here was far more than i wanted or indeed needed which is a shame as most in this series are good in delivering an overview in an hour.
If you like dates (and you will get lots in an hour), then this is for you.

A history book needs to be factual or it is not history
The first line in the book stated that the Roman Catholic Church reigned in Europe from the time of St. Peter, whereas the Roman Christian faith wasn’t Created until 400 years after Christ and the apostles and wasn’t dubbed catholic until centuries late.
