Summary

Love history? Know your stuff with History in an Hour.

In his ambition to provide a male heir to the throne, Henry VIII married six times. Divorce from his first wife, Catherine of Aragon, caused England’s break from the Catholic church in Rome. He went on to divorce Anne of Cleves and behead Anne Boleyn and Katherine Howard for infidelities. Jane Seymour died and Catherine Parr survived Henry.

Henry VIII’s Wives in an Hour will introduce you to these six entirely diverse and captivating personalities and the events that propelled them to their individual fates. You will learn which wife had what impact on Henry and England and understand why Henry and his six wives form the most popular period of Tudor history.

Clear and concise

Packed with facts and narrated very well. I enjoyed it very much. A neat well researched brief history of Henry VIII and his 6 wives

Henry VIII must have been insufferable!

This is a well written and flawlessly narrated summary of Henry VIII's love (mis)adventures. I felt a rapidly increasing desire to bitch-slap some sense into the foolish man as I listened. I want this one. No, that one. Now this one's too much. So let me have that one. Oh, no, now this one. Too boring. Now this wild one. Again, too much. I'd better have that one over there. Luckily for everyone involved, Henry VIII died before this could go on any further.
A great listen. Highly recommended!

Great recap of the topic

Where does Henry VIII's Wives: History in an Hour rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It gives you the feeling of a great gain over a short period of time.

What did you like best about this story?

Nicely and smoothly written, and nicely read.

Any additional comments?

I needed a quick recap on the topic (after listening to The Tudors by G.J. Meyer) and the audiobook served this purpose perfectly. However, I would recommend it also to the listeners who simply want to get to know something about Henry VIII and his wives but don't want to go into extensive reading.

Good

I like it. I'm eleven and a lot, and it's a good recap on my history, and you can listen to it any time, anywhere, while learning history (or doing your assigned listening)📚
And it helps remember his (too many) wives

Reader, Look Elsewhere!

Julie Wheeler achieves the almost impossible here: rendering an endlessly fascinating story dull as ditchwater. It's an extremely good book to listen to if you suffer from insomnia. Five minutes of this and you'll be snoring fit to wake the dead.
