About this listen
When historian Jaya Jones receives a mysterious package containing a jewel-encrusted artifact, she discovers the secrets of a lost Indian treasure may be hidden in a Scottish legend. But she's not the only one on the trail.
From San Francisco to the Highlands of Scotland, Jaya must evade a shadowy stalker, as she follows hints from the hastily scrawled note to a remote archaeological dig. Helping her decipher the cryptic clues are her magician best friend, a devastatingly handsome art historian with something to hide, and a charming archaeologist running for his life. When a member of the dig's crew is murdered, Jaya must figure out which of the scholars vying for her affections might be the love of her life - and which one is a killer.

Mystery
This is the first book I’ve read by Gigi but not the last. The twist and turns thought the book kept me glued to the story. I will definitely continue this series.

Good book, but
The story was good. Unfortunately, being British, the attempt at the accents of the Scottish and English characters was hilariously bad.

Good read
This is a great story but performance was full of terrible attempts at British accents with mispronunciations. You have to ignore them to enjoy the actual story.

The accents are so bad, I expected Mary Poppins to turn up.
Having enjoyed The Alchemist series, I was hopeful of finding my next literary mini-obsession. This isn’t it.
The Scottish and British accents are distractingly poor and meander about so much that it’s genuinely hard to keep track of which character is speaking.
Story was so so and lacked the narrative clarity of the previous series. I wanted to love it but it’s a tough listen.

Another new favourite author
I have fallen in love with the novels by Gigi Pandian. The books are very well written, with believable characters. I can't wait to continue this series. Brilliantly narrated.

Terrible accents!
I am enjoying the story, but unfortunately the English/Scottish accents are really badly done... it’s pretty distracting!

You can't love em all a
Having listened to Pandian's Accidental Alchemist series I was looking forward to this book , I was extremely disappointed. The main character is annoying beyond all reason. She is supposed to be an academic but there's little evidence of that. She is supposed to be a modern woman who stands on her own feet yet she surroundings herself with men. This is in itself not a bad thing, but she comes over as a damsel in distress. As for the narrator, if you are going to set your story in a country that has a very distinct accent then at least make sure the person who is going to read the story can do a decent attempt at that accent. Needless to say I won't be reading the rest of the books in the series.

Different narrator needed
This would have been a much better book read by a different narrator.
I can cope with a badly done accent but it needs to be a consistent, not changing all the time.

The characters and storyline
Liked the different characters and how they all played a part. Liked the description of the area and attention to detail. Liked the history lesson too!
