Terrible narration

I really wanted to listen to this book because I'm trying to understand about autism as my daughter is awaiting assessment.

I can't listen to the book sadly because the narration is so poor. I'm sure this must be an unedited version. The narrator reads very quickly with minimal intonation. she sounds bored to be honest and it's really hard to follow the sentence structure. There are even episodes where she clearly makes a mistake and grumbles to herself - quite funny, but not what you expect when you pay for an audiobook on Audible.

I've had to give up because my blood pressure is rising!

Save yourself the money and buy the printed version. Unless you fancy listening to the bloopers!

Unedited retake

I’m sure this is going to be thorough and well-researched book but I’ve only got 8 mins 40 secs in before the first unedited retake. The narration could use a little warming up too, but I’m sure I’ll get used to it.

Practical but slow

As someone with autistic, female family members this book rung true and had lots of practical advice. However, I was left thinking that the girls have been sold short. Lots of focus on dealing with puberty, friendships, school etc... and rather repetitive and slow. Perhaps this would be more useful for a family that only has young autistic girls rather than a family that has had to learn the hard way and has older family members with ASD. I may be wrong but it was lacking focus on our minds which are just as interesting as the boys’ minds. I had to stop listening part way through. I much prefer Sarah Hendrickx’s “Women and girls with autism spectrum disorder”.

Interesting but very badly narrated

A very interesting book with very useful information especially for parents with young girls with ASD. However, the narrator's performance is very bad, it needs a lot of editing. It's a shame because the content of the book is quite good but the narrator makes it difficult to follow.

Terrible narration and editing

It was at times painful listening to this audio book not because of the subject matter but due to the editing and narration. 3 mins in you hear the narrator mess up...and it made me lose focus. Why wasn't it edited out? The narration itself has no range its like listening to a student read out in class, she seems uncomfortable, none fluent and up and continously pronounces words wrong and attempts to fix the mess ups are obvious. It needs to be re-narrated to give the content the platform it deserves as content is informative but it's lost on the poor narration.

Excellent insight to female presentation of Autism

I found this book very insightful. There was a lot of detail given into how female present in autism and how it differs to male presentation in autism.
I wish that Tony would read his parts of audiobooks because he is much more animated when he talks and I can understand better. I know this having listened to a lot of his YouTube stuff.

Very disappointed

This is so badly read that I gave up after only 10 minutes in. It’s rushed and at one point the speaker is trying to read so fast she stumbles and gives up. So frustrating as I really want to listen to this book. This review has nothing to do with the authors only the reader.
