Summary
There is no one to trust in Nancy Ann Healy’s thrilling new novel, Betrayal.
FBI agent Alex Toles is relieved to return to work at the NSA after a frightening on-the-job ordeal. Her life partner, Cassidy O’Brien, and Cassidy’s seven-year-old son, have also been instrumental in healing Alex’s wounds.
But their peace is short-lived when they discover that their good friend - and President of the United States - John Merrow, has been assassinated.
Little do they know, however, that President Merrow’s death is just the beginning. Even as Alex and Cassidy are forced to confront the loss of their friend and the ramifications that will have on the global stage, they must cope with problems much closer to home.
Battling intolerance over the nature of their romantic relationship and long-hidden secrets within their families, Alex and Cassidy must confront the truth of their pasts in order to build the future they seek.
On top of it all, they must confront a conspiracy that spans multiple governments, intelligence agencies, diplomatic services, and international corporations if they are to finally discover the truth about the mysterious group known as the Collaborative - and about themselves.

Great combination of spy and romance stories
The narration of this story by Cassandra York is excellent. She has a soothing voice to listen to and is able to give all the characters their own tone. I especially like Dillon’s voice.
The story is enthralling and I loved Dillon’s part in the wedding. Such an unusual twist and I think this would be wonderful if done in RL weddings where applicable.
I am dying to see what happens next and have purchased Bk 3 already.

A weird combination of a fairytale love story and odd spy plot
Very odd that the lead characters fall madly in love within 2 days and start discussing the strangest things including that a child you met 3 weeks ago should be considered your son. If you want the cheesiest love story then you will love this

Not for me.
I expected a political thriller, it was a romance. I’m sure if you want a romance book then you’ll enjoy it but there is no climax, which I realised with 20 minutes remaining, there was no time left for one. Indeed there is nothing! Just the requirement to buy the next book if you’re interested in the knowing the outcome, I’m not. It’s like a soap opera I suppose, where each episode leads you on to the next weeks, that’s not what I want from a book.
