About this listen

What's a duke to do when a carefully selected bride rejects him rather than marry without love? He salvages his pride by marrying the next woman who falls into his arms.

Joyous Fiona MacQuarrie bewitched the Duke of Belmore the moment she appeared from nowhere and knocked him over...literally. Joyous MacQuarrie is a Scottish witch whose powers of white magic are not always easy for her to control. When Alec's pride makes him choose to marry her, Joy turns the life of the most serious and snobbish duke in England upside down.

Too soon Alec finds his well ordered and controlled life a mess, because he married a witch - one who turns him to fire when he kisses her, who charms everyone around her, and threatens to destroy both their lives as scandal looms over her.

Too late, Joy discovers she's desperately in love and not even the strongest magic can seem to turn her into a proper duchess, or make her husband love her. Passion holds them spellbound in an irresistiblely funny and tender tale of two opposite but lonely hearts.

Ouch - what narration!

Narration was terrible. Not sure is narrator was American, but surely she should done a little research before reading. With the exception of London I'm not sure that she pronounced any of the British place names correctly. Still enjoyed the book though. :)

Sickly sweet...

Don't get me wrong this is beautifully written and narrated wonderfully, it was just a very sweet read but too sickly for my palette..

very poor narration which distracts

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The story is very sweet. A clumsy witch causes chaos in a very formal dukes life, a little bit of warm predictable escapism. However, the narrator is so awful I was crying with laughter, an american accent pretending to be scottish, it took a while to work out swooorey was in fact Surrey. If you cant bear the massacre of accents, give this one a miss and just read the book.

What could Jill Barnett have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

New narrator please!
