About this listen

In a land where magic is might, Catalia Fisa is the mightiest of them all....

Catalia Fisa, Lost Princess, has been running from destiny her whole life. Yet deep down, she has always believed that the prophecy shadowing her every step is inescapable: her unimaginable power will bring unfathomable disaster.

But now her newfound loved ones are caught between the shadow of Cat's tortured past and the threat of her world-shattering future. Although it may be that this, even with all her power, is still the one battle she cannot win, Cat's determined not to go down without a fight.

As the realms descend into all-out war, Cat knows she must embrace the power at her command. With Griffin by her side and Gods willing, perhaps she can emerge victorious in this fiery forging of a new Kingdom.

I really enjoy the ways this series is written, I like the characters and the story is excellent , as is the narrator. My gripe in this book - as well as the first is the toe curling scenes of lovemaking, - it's a case of too much information! It doesn't put me off buying the third in the series as I want to know the outcome, but if this lady writes any more books I just hope that she gets this out of her system. I feel uncomfortable reading about the passionate relationship between Griffin and Cat.

Really good story well read

Loved this book (and 1 and 3) but I was never sure whether I was listening to a book aimed at teenage girls or adults. It kind of appeal to both in me. The rumbling theme of the relationship with 'mother' did seem a little like a self help book aimed at reassuring girls that relationships with mothers can be difficult and it is not always your fault.
I agree with others - the sex scenes were way overdone. Some of them were useful for the plot because they helped you understand the strength and depth of the relationship with Griffin but others were just - yawn - not again. I too felt they would be embarrassing to listen to if you were not alone.

I'm not a prude but ... too much sex!

I don't understand why everyone is making such a fuss about the sex scenes. There are two explicit scenes in this whole book. Really enjoying the development of the storyline.

Great story

Not as good as the first, tho still enjoyable.
Found the intimacy between the two main characters a bit much.

Goodish book

The first book set the scene for an enjoyable fantasy story with a dollop of romance - however by the end of this book I was getting heartily sick of the repetitve sex scenes and the plot did not seem to progress very far. Shame, as the heroine is very engaging but I don't think I would recommend this book.

What is this book trying to be?

I would love to say this series would be excellent without the sex scenes, but frankly cutting them out would probably only leave enough story for a single novel. They are irritatingly repetitive as well as far too long and entirely unnecessary to the plot. Which is otherwise good although a little predictable at times.

Too much sex

A heroine who goes weak at the knees every time her former captor and now apparently lover looks at her and a violent alpha male with apparently the worlds biggest cock isn’t exactly a love story to aspire to. Bit sick of domestic violence and ridiculous possessive jealousy being portrayed as a good thing in fiction instead of condemned.
The story that wasn’t about gratuitously graphic sex between the two most messed up people in the entire world was actually very compelling - the book would have been an awful lot better if the romance nonsense was left out - or at least made less graphic and abusive.

Performance was fine - nothing to grumble about with the narrator.

Too much pointless sex and glorifying domestic violence

The previous book had flaws that you could overlook, but the same flaw seem to create more in this one.

My biggest gripes are with the main two characters. Griffin is supposed to be a rough & ready man's man but with a soft side and a heart of gold, but too frequently he is just ignorant, arrogant and domineering. And no sooner has Kat demonstrated a capability than Griffin had to remind her she is his chattle. This is made worse by the narrator who makes Griffin sound even more smug and sleazy than he already is.

And don't get me started on the awful sex scenes.

Elsewhere the premise for the story is sound, as is most of the narration. There is enjoyment to be had, but it is not as good as it should have been.

A Mixed Bag

This could of been one book if you take out the sex. I enjoyed the story line. Narrater was very good.
