Summary
A Standalone Billionaire, Marriage of Convenience Romance.
You want to know the secret to everlasting happiness?
Never fall in love.
That was the wisdom my father imparted to us James boys after our mom died, and it’s a piece of advice that’s served me well.
Until dear old Dad asks me for a favor over Sunday brunch. No big deal, right? I love making my old man happy. Except this “favor” is a lot more complicated than picking up his dry cleaning. Dad wants me to marry and provide a few heirs for the James empire, and he’s even done me the courtesy of handpicking my bride-to-be. Lucky me.
But if I’m being honest, I’ve grown tired of the endless cycle of dating, the constant small talk, and the ever-shrinking pool of women I haven’t already invited for a sleepover.
I’m a lawyer, so contracts are kind of my thing. And that’s all marriage really is—a contract negotiated between two parties. What could possibly go wrong?
Enter Melanie Edison, the five-foot-four brunette with curves in ALL the right places. A veterinary nurse with the smartest mouth I’ve ever heard. And I have more fun not dating her than I did dating any woman before, even with Melanie’s absurd no-sex-before-marriage rule.
But when our business arrangement becomes so much more, I end up breaking my most important rule. And that’s when it all goes to hell.
I have no idea how we can ever repair the damage that’s been done. I’m not even sure I want to. And maybe going back to my old life won’t be so hard.
Except it’s too late. I broke my rule.
And she broke me.

Loved It xx
What is not to like, there are Alphas, great women narrators, spice and a story line.
Sadie is my go to dark romance author. When you think she can’t get any better, she goes and smashes yet another story!
I am literally going to listen to this story right now even though I have just finished it!!
Nathan and Mel are just great characters, the story will make you laugh and cry! It’s just lovely!! Cannot wait until the rest of the Manhattan series is released next year!!!

wonderful love story
We all need a Nathan in our lives. He's loving, possessive, loyal and so protective.
I loved the family dynamics and can't wait to hear about all the brothers, in particular Maddox!
The duet narration was superbly done by Elena Wolfe and Aaron Shedlock.

Dare I Say, Too Much Gratuitous Sex
Not a bad basic story and the sex at the beginning was a surprise, and written well. But about 2/3 of the book was same old, same old and it eventually got boring. I never thought I would ever say sex was boring, but it was. I’m surprised they had time to do anything else.

Fantastic!
What a fantastic story! This is Sadie Kincaid's first book in her Manhattan Ruthless series and these James men are proving to be quite the men. Nathan James is fulfilling a request by his father to marry and carry on the James line. An arranged marriage with Melanie Edison is set, and now he is ready to get to know his betrothed. Melanie is a pleaser, carrying a burden for her family and this marriage could be the answer to their prayers. But what James doesn't know is the extent and abuse Melanie has taken. Getting to know her is not easy, both have walls, but as they spend time together, magic begins to happen. Ready to just be happy and enjoy their new found love, secrets come to light. Will it be too much for this couple? I loved Nate. While he is a difficult man, his heart is true. Melanie is a tough one, and I just wanted to make her see what she could have if she just let things go. Family is all around on both sides, and there were those I love and those I love to hate! It's the perfect mix and a fabulous listen.
Making it even better is the narration team of Aaron Shedlock and Elena Wolfe. It doesn't get better than this! Shedlock is a tough, alpha male, ready for action and sweet as pie. Love that he can bring all the different facets to light. Wolfe is Melanie, conflicted, scared, and passionate, each emotion clear and felt straight to the heart. Loved this narration!

Loved!
Broken was a great start to this new series! I really enjoyed Nathan and Melanie’s story. A deal between the James family and Melanie’s brother Bryce, have them entering an arranged marriage/ marriage of convenience relationship.
There is a lot of push and pull between them and great witty banter. They had an instant attraction with undeniable chemistry that was burning from their first date. This isn’t as spicy as some of Sadie’s other books but I felt it had a good balance with the perfect mix of plot/spice and held my attention throughout. Looking forward to book 2 later this year.
TW - miscarriage- I really enjoyed how the author handled this and we saw the loss not only from Mel’s pain but also Nathan’s.
Narration: Elena Wolfe and Aaron Shedlock gave excellent performances and they hit the mark every time bringing out the pain, anger, laughs etc and really brought the characters and story to life. I think this the first book I have listened to this pairing and they worked really well together.
