About this listen
You don’t need to feel alone in parenting. You don’t need to feel like you’re failing. And you definitely don’t need another parenting book filled with theoretical advice about theoretical children. You need actual parenting help from an actual parent. It’s time to feel confident in your parenting.
Susie Allison, creator of the massive online community Busy Toddler, is a breath of fresh air. With her humor and engaging personality, she helps parents find their footing, shift their perspective on childhood, and laugh at the twists and turns of parenting we all face. (Yes, it’s okay that your child licked a shopping cart - they pretty much all do that.)
In Busy Toddler’s Guide to Actual Parenting, Susie gives the achievable advice she’s known for around the world, from daily life and #beingtwoisfine to tantrums and tattling and teaching the ABCs. The book also includes more than 50 of her famous activities that have helped thousands of parents make it to nap time - FYI, the popsicle bath is a game-changer.
Susie shares real moments raising her three kids as well as her professional knowledge from eight years as a kindergarten and first-grade teacher. Her simple and doable approach to parenting will leave you feeling so much better!
Let Susie give you the actual parenting advice you need.

Great positive ideas
I have read alot of parents books, and really like this one. I found lots of useful ideas about teaching little people. the book has a positive tone and the ideas are easy tools to try out. I've found I've had a more positive attitude to my life at home with 2 tiny people since listening.

Really helpful
I really enjoyed reading this book and there were lots of things that struck a chord with me. A couple of chapters about being 2 years old and towards the end about the value of play were great. we definitely prioritise rote learning and academic skills over social and emotional competency, the latter of which can be achieved through play. I'm off to get some sensory stuff too for my toddler :)

Useful, actionable parenting.
A helpful book that lines up nicely with my own parenting style. Susie reads her own work in a fun and engaging way. She describes her own parenting and teaching history and uses real life examples both to illustrate her messages and suggest ways of adjusting your own parenting.
With really useful chapters about tantrums, conflict resolution and teaching our children soft skills Susie has carefully reminded me that having young kids is fun! Even on the days when it can be super challenging there are moments of joy or at least gratitude.

Thank you! Finally a non judgemental parenting book
Finally a parenting book without guilty and judgement plus making you feel like your choices for child has scared & damaged them for life already. Already put so much of the advice in this book into place and I have happy child & I’m such a more understanding happy mother. Will recommend to all my mum friends now!

Waaaaay too much talking
I got this book to learn something to 'actually parent' my toddler. I got zero, i repeat, zero advice for my toddler. All i heard is two hours blabbering about that its going to be okay, its just a phase, a long anecdote of how she got the term Taby, an unbelievable unhelpfull story of how great it was she had a baby at the same time as her bestie, blabablablablabla...such a shame, because she must have great info to share. Maybe rewrite it, and come straight to the point instead of all this talking about nothing...maybe she forgot how little time she had during the Actual Parenting Phase :)
