Summary

Luke Roberts came to the small, lazy town of Kilgore, Texas, with one thing on his mind: forgetting. He wanted to forget why he left. Forget those emerald green eyes that haunted his dreams. And forget how it felt to have his heart ripped out of his chest by a woman who didn't like the fact that he had a child. It was something he'd been doing a damn fine job of doing, too. Until Reese smashed through every one of his defenses and made him feel again.

Reese Doherty was just trying to do the best for her little girl. So she moved to the little boomtown nearly an hour from where she grew up to be the school nurse for Kilgore's littlest people. That's where she met him. The SWAT officer, the man that would change her life forever.

But Luke was a hero. A man used to risking his life to make the world a safer place. Something Reese had to decide whether she could handle or not. Preferably before her and her daughter became too attached.

Just when she was ready to give him her whole heart, her world took a huge hit, and everything she thought she knew wasn't as it seemed.

Luke wasn't a quitter, though. Damn far from it, and he'd prove to her that he'd be there when the dust settled.

Contains mature themes.

Enjoyable First Book for KPD SWAT

Here you'll have the pleasure in meeting Luke and his daughter Katie, a single HOT dad leader of the KPD SWAT team. You'll also meet Reese Doherty and her daughter Rowen, a single mum and school nurse. They cross paths when Katie becomes ill at school and Luke rushes to get to her. They become instantly attracted to each other but due to Lukes hatred of green eyes due to his ex he desperately tries to resist her and Reese just doesn't trust men anymore after dealing with Rowen's father.

So what happens when Rowen's father turns up with a new pregnant wife in tow wanting to take Rowan by filing for full custody?
What happens when the horrible ex turns up and what did she actually do to make Luke so mad he hated green eyes?

There are definitely twists and turns to this story and perhaps it may seem like it skips over some of the disappearance of some of the characters, but I still thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook and it was perfect to relax or do some housework to.

The narrators are some of my favourites for this type of storyline C. J. Bloom and Jeremy York.

at the time of listening to this audiobook it was free to listen to which is alway a bonus, this is the only one in the series but this hasn't put me off as I've just downloaded the next title
Double Tap.

Enjoy listening to this audiobook as much as i did!

Weak storyline and difficult to listen to

I found this really difficult to keep listening to, not much of a storyline until near the end with the rest of the book just completely cringeworthy. Definitely won’t listen to this author again.

kept losing the thread of the story

this is the first book in the series but it felt like the 3rd or 4th. there references to other stories that it seemed like we were supposed to know. also based on the description I expected more angst, and "no, we shouldn't..." type of kick off but the two leads seee each other and almost ahag immediately.
