not to take away from a beautifully written romance of opposites attract, and narration by my favourite eloquentess, in a story I'd love to see a book 2, and the following school yr.
but, the story within of lgbtqia+ kids is something not only worth talking about politically, affected me 50yrs ago, but affects 2 of my granddaughters, 1 at a Liberal school where it's an open topic, and 1 where unfortunately it's not, at least we don't live in Qatar.

Really brilliant story line of a terrified young first year chemistry teacher who bumps into the ice queen biology teacher, really great characters all the way through and really brilliant narration with a happy ending as well 👍👍❤

Loved the representation this novel displays, fantastic storyline, great characters, relatable and just plain real. Nice to have stories like these out there!

I stumbled across this one and loved it. Lori Prince has again, performed brilliantly in bringing the story of Eva and Lily to life.

Lily returns to her hometown after a breakup to teach Chemistry, she manages to win over the entire faculty, all except Dr Eva Thomas, the biology teacher down the hall. Ice queen personified. They get off to a tumultuous start and, as usual for me, no spoilers but the ‘thawing’ of Eva is lovely.

Lily is so happy, full of enthusiasm and seemingly endless support for her students and Eva, whilst frosty to everyone else, is emphatically kind towards her students.

Their arguments had me chortling out loud and the spice, when it hits, hits goooood! 🥵

I must confess, I’d not read any of Rachel Sommers’ work before but I’ll definitely be on the lookout for more.

How persistence cracks the best defences despite every obstacle thrown in its way. Breathtaking putdowns, icy dialogue and sheer intimidation are just part of the discouraging repel tactics of a terrifying teacher who racks up 12 detentions on the 1st day of term. In breezes 2nd career friendly new teacher and spills coffee all over ice maidens blouse. That's just for openers. There are some good sub plots and characters of young adult pupils. Narration is very good illuminating the tortuous potential romance.
