Summary

Books one, two and three in audio in Robert Muchamore's best-selling Cherub series.

The Recruit (Book 1):

A terrorist doesn't let strangers in her flat because they might be undercover police or intelligence agents, but her children bring their mates home, and they run all over the place. The terrorist doesn't know that one of these kids has bugged every room in her house, made copies of all her computer files and stolen her address book. The kid works for Cherub.

Cherub agents are aged between 10 and 17. They live in the real world, slipping under adult radar and getting information that sends criminals and terrorists to jail.

So when James Adams hits rock bottom, he's offered a new start at Cherub, and from there things start to look up.

Class A (Book 2):

When Cherub kids go undercover, no one suspects that they are trained professionals working to infiltrate criminal organisations that have eluded MI5 and the police for years.

James Adams is on his biggest mission yet, working to nail Europe's most powerful cocaine dealer. He'll need all his specialist training if he's going to bring down the man at the top.

Maximum Security (Book 3):

Over the years, Cherub has put plenty of criminals behind bars. Now, for the first time ever, they've got to break one out.

Under American law, kids convicted of serious crimes can be sentenced as adults. Two hundred and eighty of these child criminals live in the sunbaked desert prison of Arizona Max. In one of the most dangerous Cherub missions ever, James Adams has to go undercover inside Arizona Max, befriend an inmate and then bust him out.

An amazing modern adventure!

The first three books in the series are well written, exiting and emotional!
Muchamore does a great job of describing areas, characters and the story so everything and everyone feels relatable.

Some sloppy factual errors creep in around weapons but all in all it is only disturbing for people in and around guns.

You can tell the author has done research into SAS training and how other organizations do this sort of jobs but with the twist that this is handled by child operatives, which introduces a mature reader to the moral question about child soldiers and "the greater good" paradigm.

TL;DR A great read for both children and adults!

I read this series when I was 12 years old, 25 and I’m still listening to the audio books at work

Just as exciting 2nd time around

Read this series for the first time some years ago as published. Totally hooked at the time. Now, listening on Audible, I can understand why. The narrator does a great job of holding the suspense and enhancing the characters so that it is almost like listening to a new series. Either way, this is and was a ground-breaking series for today's younger teen readers and equally appealing to those who enjoy dipping into the young adult genre from time to time. A genre I might add that seems to broaden as the years role on for those who appreciate a break from the relentless tedium of longer and longer books written more with tv and film rights in mind than the discipline of a readable novel.

Whoops, but still great.

Chapter 66 about 5 minutes 30 seconds they repeated the same line twice but with a slightly different tone.

Still a great book.

This book is definitely for older children
but is absolutely amazing. It is really good for teens who like spy stories.
