Summary
This book examines the causes of delayed speech and the issues of toddlers who are late talkers. Parents will learn different ways to help their children through this difficult time, while also providing support, acceptance, and leading a normal life without making the child feel as if they must be fixed. No matter the cause of a child's inability to talk, several foolproof methods are offered to help them communicate. Parents can learn the following from the book:
- Ways to encourage children, specifically those between one to three years of age, to speak and pronounce words.
- The best tools to help their children learn to speak through interactive toys and games.
- How praise plays an important role in promoting speech and how criticism can exacerbate speech delay.
- Methods to find out if their child is suffering from a mental illness.
- Ways to create routines for their children and work on building a relationship by understanding how their children communicate.
The book is designed to help parents cut through confusion and stress to figure out if their children need help. Those interested in learning how to develop young children's language will find this book indispensable.

Easy-to-read comprehensive and thorough guide
This is an excellent resource for a parent seeking information about their child’s speech and language development or for anyone wanting to learn effective methods to encourage their child or grandchild to talk. The author helps you to see that children are able to communicate even before they utter their first word. Having the speech and language milestones presented by age group was very helpful to determine what’s normal and what isn’t and when to take concerns to the pediatrician. Essential and useful information is provided for late talkers due to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and for Non-ASD late talkers.

Very difficult but important topic
As a parent, it can sometimes be very difficult to come to terms if your child has a deficiency as more often than not, it can be brushed off as something else. Unless you brave the odds to seek some help.
This audiobook addresses what's now becoming a common health challenge in some kids - autism. It is any parent's nightmare if their child is not able to communicate with you. The book helps you turn that panic into action by providing you with guidance on how to notice the differences in behaviour and what to watch out for as they may have the condition and you are unaware for some time.
I found this book very useful and as it provided some practical approaches to breaching communication gaps and encouraging your child to talk. Very relevant topic and recommended.

Best tool for children's speech therapy
My best friend is a speech therapist and I would definitely recommend this book to her and her co-workers because while they probably know a lot of the information, I'm sure they can appreciate and share the engaging insights with their patients' parents. I enjoyed the listening experience and think the narrator did a great job. The author really broke down the facts and information to be enlightening and engaging.

A Genuinely Helpful Resource
I bought this audiobook for a friend who has twins and runs a business, so, as any busy parent will know, she simply doesn't have time to sit and read a book. She tells me that having access to an audio version was ideal for her, and she was reassured by the book's thorough research and the fact that Jane T Colvin clearly knows what she's talking about.
The reason for the purchase was because my friend was starting to become anxious and concerned - her little girl's speech was progressing well but her twin brother's speech development was a long way behind, My friend was relieved and comforted to receive and listen to this book; it has provided her with the necessary support and information she needs, as well as numerous practical solutions that she and her husband can incorporate into their daily routines at home.

Great listen
The author definitely knows what they’re talking about. My nephews speech definitely is behind for a 2 year old so I got my sister to listen to this. The advice given were clear and concise, and the Techniques provided in chapter 6 are practical. Would recommend this for any parent going through a similar situation!

So much information, beautifully delivered
This book is absolutely packed with information regarding speech development in children. The level of detail that’s gone into this book is really incredible.
