The author is very knowledgeable about the topic and has much experience on the subject. She offers well-explained exercise examples. The step-by-step guides for teaching children to self-regulate and be more independent were particularly helpful - to start building strong emotional skills. I really liked the information about sign language for babies starting to implement it between 6 & 8 months of age.
The narrator's voice is clear and engaging, making it easy to listen to.
I will be recommending this book to many parents and friends.

Aside from the teaching parts, the audiobook also talks about the emotional parts of parenting and caring for others. It is a strong ally against stigmatization and a lack of emotional support, and it helps those who support children with special needs feel like they are part of a group.

I was really appreciative of the simplicity and description of the eight parts of communication. Breaking down communication was helpful and made helping children more manageable instead of seeming impossible.
This book has exercises to help, so the knowledge is easily applied. There are also chapters on how to help with communication at home and school, growing into adolescence, so it’s very comprehensive for growing young people.
