Summary

How can you have a rich and fulfilling life? The choices you make, not your income or financial assets, are the most powerful determining factor for your quality of life.

Women have never had so many options. Yet we often experience a kind of paralysis, an unconscious willingness to follow societal dictates rather than become the CEOs of our own lives. When we mindlessly follow the dots, we smother our innate gifts and miss opportunities to fulfill our true potential.

There is another way - choosing to live a simply luxurious life. This book will show you how to invest your time and what to eliminate from your life. It will enable you to:

  • Design a life of purpose that is aligned with your passions and talents
  • Become financially independent
  • Enjoy cultivating a healthy mind and body
  • Build and maintain strong, loving relationships
  • Create a chic, timeless signature style
  • Design a comfortable home that is a true sanctuary
  • Travel in comfort and style
  • Discover simple pleasures that make each day something to look forward to

You can curate the life of your dreams by being purposeful and selective, no matter where you live, your income, or your relationship status. Luxury and true fulfillment are ours for the having if we know where to look and how to make the right choices.

Worth listening to

I liked a lot in this book. Especially when she's talking about learning how to set your own rules in your own life and to create your life instead of trying to fulfill other people's expectations of what you should be doing. I for most part am already doing what she's talking about but it's always good to have a reminder every now and then. It occasionally feels as she's telling you to live a very curated life. For example I really enjoy when she's talking about buying less but more quality once you decide to spend, plan ahead ect. but I only like it when she's talking in broad terms, once she starts to give you examples of what the perfect capsule wardrobe needs she sort of loses my interest because that sounds opposite to what she's preaching. If I buy the things she thinks are necessary for a great wardrobe I'm essentially not being me because my style is relaxed scandinavian with an occasional boho twist lol. Not at all close to what she likes. I guess she's just listing things she thinks are essential but since it's not close to my style I stopped paying attention. Also, being a Scandinavian I'm just not familiar with a lot of the things she talks about, like thank you cards, hostess gifts, putting out special guest baskets for visitors. She basically has a whole chapter on how to be a houseguest or a host to a houseguest. Here it will suffice to give a big hug at the end of the stay, say thank you sincerely and then return the favor in some way later. Nothing wrong with either tradition it's just very different here. There's also a lot of high maintenance going on in this book, like the example of how insane it was for her to not being able to use her blow drier in France and she had to let her hair air dry! For crying out loud, what a catastrophy. And her idea of day makeup sounds like what I'd put on for a formal gala. But you know, each to their own. Also I didn't really love listening to her France traveling points, I'm not new to traveling plus I'm European so when in France I won't have a problem with using the underground or charge my electronics. And I didn't like listening to her read out loud recipes. I love food but that was just plain not fun.
But besides from what I've mentioned she does have valid points and the book is worth listening to for sure. The basics are good and if you take what fits your life from it then you'll definitely enjoy it.

Nothing new

Very basic tips on self-care, success, relationships etc., will find the same and even more in any magazine sold in the supermarket. Very poor content; about performance: there is a break between chapters but otherwise the whole book is like an extremely long sentence read super fast.
Wish I could give a better review, love books, but this one is not enjoyable at all, did not even finish it, and definitely not worth the money.
