About this listen
When 18-year-old Kara Jones gets into a car accident on the way home from college, she's left with more than a few bruised ribs, a busted cell phone, and a totaled car. After a slip-up at the hospital, she’s shaken to discover that her family isn't all it seems. And now her mother's strange behavior and willingness to do anything to protect her secrets - including pulling Kara out of school - have Kara floundering in the dark.
Enter Derek Miller, a former classmate who's dealing with family issues of his own. His nerdy charm is too much for Kara to resist, and she's even more amazed when he agrees to help her dig into her mother's past. Together, they investigate her mother's old friends and boyfriends, hoping to discover who Kara really is. Instead, they find disturbing connections to the dark history of Kent State University, and an ever expanding maze of mystery surrounding Kara's birth.
As Kara and Derek chase secrets, she realizes he's the only person she can trust. But as they get closer to the truth, the disturbing answers reveal a web of evil far darker and further-reaching than they'd imagined, leaving Kara to wish she'd never asked the questions in the first place.

just the right mix of mystery and romance
This is the first book I have read/listened to by Kate L Mary and it certainly will not be the last. The book combined the perfect blend of mystery and romance and I listened to it within a day. The characters are so well built up and described I actually felt that I was going on the journey with them . It was so down to earth and believable . I love how the author just kept things real . It would have been so easy to go off in a tangent and into another direction , but what was written was perfection. At first I didnt like the main character of Kara . I might even say that I despised her. She was so whiney and full of teenage angst but as the relationship with Derek materialised I began to love both characters.
I became enthralled by the development of the relationship . The narrator did an amazing job and her tone was easy on the ears . Cant recommend this book enough . I received a copy of this book free of charge from the author or narrator in return for an unbiased honest review.

Some questions are better never answered.
I received this book via a free promo code and this is my voluntary review.
Kara is your basic coffee-loving former cheerleader turned college party girl who gets involved in an accident on her drive home from College. After being cut from the wreckage she realises that the real damage is what happens after the hospital. Her blood tests revealed her mothers deepest darkest secret... that Kara isn't the biological daughter of the man who raised her. He's since moved out and her mother refuses to tell her the truth of who her real father is and begs Kara to let the matter go, to not go digging for things she can never unlearn.
Furious Kara spurns her mother and goes off to Nancy Drew that info for herself. She meets a sympathetic ear in the local bar, Derek Miller, a guy from her high school that she can't remember well. Turns out he was a bit of a nerd back then, but he always had a thing for Kara. He helps her hunt down the answers she so desperately needs and when the truth is so much worse than she ever could have imagined, hes the only person who can help put her back together.
I absolutely loved this debut story from Kate L Mary and the narration is fantastic.
Definitely recommend.

Loved it!
The storyline in Collision was unique and very engaging. It held my attention from the beginning all the way until the end of the book. At first, I wasn't too sure about Derek but I quickly loved his character. I liked Kara for the most part but sometimes she seemed a little self-centered and did things I didn't necessarily agree with. I think they made a great couple, though. I really liked the twists and turns in the story. I do hope there is a follow-up book since it didn't quite seem like the story is over although it didn't really end in a cliffhanger. Janine Granda did a great job narrating this story and bringing the characters to life. I received this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.
