About this listen

Duane ‘Keffe D’ Davis, former shot caller for the Southside Compton Crips and kingpin of a Compton-based drug operation, rose to national prominence as one of the only living witnesses to the 1996 slaying of rapper Tupac Shakur after being featured in several TV specials on A&E (2017), USA Network (2017), Fox (2017), and BET (2018).

More than 20 years after the killings of Tupac and Biggie, Keffe D has released his gritty memoir, Compton Street Legend: Notorious Keffe D’s Street-Level Accounts of Tupac and Biggie Murders, Death Row Origins, Suge Knight, Puffy Combs, and Crooked Cops. Unlike other accounts of the murders of global rap icons Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G. by private investigators, retired police officers, informants, or academics, Compton Street Legend is an authentic narrative from a major street player who was inextricably involved.

Duane ‘Keffe D’ Davis’ memoir underscores the universal corruption of crime and punishment in the United States in an environment where plea deals, grand jury indictments, and cooperation with the FBI has become commonplace. Compton Street Legend is the story of the explosive consequences when the powerful worlds of the streets, entertainment, and corrupt law enforcement collide.

An extremely well written first hand account of the Tupac & Biggie murders by somebody who was actually right at the heart of it.

Very Good

I enjoyed the story but there are bad tales that are left in and bits where it jumps around a bit where the recording has been cut up and put in the wrong place… doesn’t seem much to ask for whoever produced this to listen back to it after to make sure it’s all good.

Good listen but sloppy recording/production

Interesting. True encounters from a real gangster. About time there was some honesty surrounding the two pac case.

If you’ve ever watched any documentary about Biggie and 2pac in the last 10 years then you know this story already. I cringe when I listen to this Keefe D talk about himself. What he’s saying could be true but the fact he’s know a man around 60 years old talking about himself like a drunk teenage instagram star it’s pretty embarrassing. If you can get enjoy the half of the book that wonders way of course while Keefe D tells us all how he’s a ghetto star and forgets he’s telling the story of biggie and 2pac then you could enjoy this but if your interest is only the hip hop east coast west coast rivalry then this isn’t the book for you. I you want to hear a story about a guy that’s main achievement is becoming a self crowned ghetto kingpin then you might like this book.

It’s just the same old story

Once you read one of these stories you've read them all. Keefy D can say all he wants but a snitch is a snitch.

Same bullshit different story.

Written by an 8 years old, wanna be ganxta. You should've hit the books instead of the streets. Now I gotta look out for that cadillac because of my comment.
