Rot in jail or join the Marines?
Po Abbato turns to crime in a desperate attempt to free his younger siblings from debt slavery.
He's caught, and offered a choice:
Spend 25 years in a digital prison while his body rots...
...or join the Marines.
War has returned to the solar system, sooner than anyone expected. Po must learn fast what it truly means to fight alongside others.
That is, if he's going to make it.
Because humanity's enemy has returned at last...

Enjoyed listening to this
I liked listening to this and I wanted to hear what came next for Po. So it wasn’t put down during my listening times. It’s a fun story about an interstellar conflict, and this is following a group of conscripts who are learning to work together.

A lot of luck isn't always great.
Man this poor guy has an uphill battle through the entire book. Betrayal, friendship, and loss. Looking forward to the next book.

A Solider's Life... In Space!
I recently finished A Solider's Life by AlwaysRollsAOne so i was really in the mood for a story of a similar vain and his delivered, and then some !
The MC's dysfunctional family is in debt and he is trying to make some money to forge a life for himself and his younger siblings.. Unfortunately... things going wrong.
He's given the choice between Prison or "A Soldier's Life" & he choose the later.
First time I've read a book by Scott Bartlett & Narrated by: Mark Boyett & thought they both did a great job!

military sci fi with a conspiracy
like other reviews have pointed out you get two books with this. Full of interesting concepts that are outside the norm for the genre.
the conspiracy still has me guessing and I am looking forward to the next book to see what answers Scott has for us.
our narrator is great. easily letting me lose myself as Poe moves from one challenge to the next.

Another Great Military sci-fi
I was surprised to discover that rather than just being Book 1 in this series, it contains Book 1 & 2.
Great paced military sci-fi starting with the moulding of a conscripted space marine up to the end of his first major deployment.
Looking forward to the next books in this series.

My New Sci Fi Series
Really enjoyed the world building and relatable characters.
Very easy to read and visualise and enjoyed the space military aspect to it.
Mark Boyett does an excellent job narrating the book.
Having book 2 included was a nice surprise.
I’m looking to try further titles from Scott.
