Summary

Master mythologist Martin Shaw uses story to examine our broken relationship with the world!

Myth is our wild way of telling the truth, of sharing stories that have our living earth speaking through them. There is an old insistence that we each have a twin we know nothing about. A wild, curious twin that was thrown out the window the night we were born, taking much of our energy with them.

This story is a quest to find and court our wild twin, for they have something important to tell us. If there was something we were here to do in our few, brief years, we can be sure that the wild twin is holding the key.

In Courting the Wild Twin, Martin Shaw, an accomplished storyteller and scholar of myth and oral tradition, explores two ancient myths concerned with the wild twin and shares how vital they are to our ability to confront challenges with purpose, courage and creativity.

Myths are our secret weapon. They have a radical agency of beauty in our age of amnesia, an agency far beyond concept and polemic.

Inspiring and brilliantly delivered

I felt totally nourished and inspired by the beautiful twisting tales and telling of the dreams and streams of tumbling stories that landed and sparked imaginative joy!

Bloody brilliant!

Fantastic book & read so wonderfully by Martin Shaw. I love how he processes each story.
There are so many lines I resonate with.
Where is my own wild self? Martin offers us a chance to reflect on such musings. For which I am grateful, its let me wander down the less conventional paths I harbour inside. Take a full look at the parts of me cast-off in striving for 'achievement' a conventional blight which we inflict on ourselves.
This book is in opposition to such things, it is a hand outstretched with wild offerings.

Wonderful! And very timely

It's a remarkable book. It's beautiful, numinous and earthy. It's about the big things 'out there' and the even bigger things inside us and the connections..

Mythic jewels

A fascinating plunge into the nuances of folk tale. Studying two folks tales, on with male protagonists and one with female, both illustrating the two sides of when situations clash with what is socially acceptable. And each with a resolution appropriate to their gender. I especially enjoyed the book being read by the author. The presence of his knowledge, his tone and rhythm took my listening deeper.

Thank you

If you feel sometimes life has been sanitised, lost something and your looking for perfection when it doesn't exist, then this book may allow you to feel, that maybe, some mystery can still be found and enjoyed for what it is.
