About this listen
The daughters' stories touch upon the deepest and darkest of pains: knowing you have a mother...but you don't.
Daughters Betrayed by Their Mothers: Moving from Brokenness to Wholeness is an intimate exploration into the lives of daughters who were wounded by their mothers and who chose wellness over victimhood. Each daughter's unique story of recovery is a testament to the power of choice, perseverance, and resilience. Listeners are invited to journey alongside the daughters, grabbing hold of healing lifelines and moving from broken places to whole spaces within.
- Do you feel your mother did not "show up" for you in the ways you needed?
- Because of your mother's role in your life, do you feel like you were "not enough?"
- Do you wonder if it is possible to heal from the brokenness that comes from being wounded by your mother?
If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, the "daughters" warmly welcome you.

A Research Project in Story Form
As a psych student, I had a moment of horror when I started this audiobook as I hadn't realised that it was a research project, but this was a way of presenting research I haven't seen before and it did blow my mind a little. There are moments where we hear how cups were refilled and weather talk, but that is all part of the interview process, and as a piece of research, I'm not too upset that it's included, it can throw the rhythm of the story off a little, but I do think it adds it's own charm.
The interviews themselves were interesting, and I did appreciate the fact that Holli took part as well, and openly shared her own answers in a way that the other's didn't have to. Her name is connected and it is unlikely theirs are, but such honesty is almost expected in this genre from authors.
There are tips and suggests that can be taken on for people to use in their own life, and those drawn to this book has likely been through similar stories as the people included in the stories we hear. It is a rather informative tale to hear.
