About this listen
When there is no more room in hell, the dead will walk the Earth. George A. Romero's iconic film and novel terrified generations. Now Dawn of the Dead is back to terrify once more.
The world is being devastated by zombies. No one knows how far they have spread, or how to stop them. And as the living fight to save themselves, society collapses. Four people escape the chaos of downtown Philadelphia and find shelter in a shopping mall. As the survivors exhaust their greed and the undead scrape at the doors, the refuge becomes a prison.
And soon there will be nowhere left to hide....
The classic horror that inspired a genre: If you haven't heard this yet, you need to. If you have, you'll want to again.
Includes a brilliant and exclusive introduction from Simon Pegg.

If you like the movie…

if you have seen the movie you know exactly what to expect, there is little content that adds to the original movie screen play, however the additional insight into the personal thoughts and motivations of the characters is enough to make reading this book worthwhile.
Personally I love looking back in time to the late 70s / early 80s and an era where things were so different from the styles and technology of today,
Dawn, really highlights the idiosyncrasies of its time, it was nice to experience my childhood again through the language, attitudes and descriptions of the book.
Tldnr: even though there is not much additional material contained in the novel, the book an excellent comparison to the movie.

Very Good and better if you love the film as I do

You’ll get to spend a few more shopping hours with Peter, Roger, Fran and Steve at the mall whilst society collapses and the walking dead take over the world.
The book doesn’t expand in the movie by adding or altering the scenes you probably first encountered on that blurry pirated VHS back in the very early 1980s. But it does give you a much deeper insight into what each of the four protagonists are thinking and feeling as they fight for survival and to protect their new found retail wonderland from zombies and raiders.
The performance is so engaging you could only make it more true to the movie by playing some campy jazz music as a backing track.
The story you know, playing out in your own mind

Any additional comments?
Love the film and boy can George Romero bring Zombies to life (See what I did there?) on the silver screen. Sadly his talent doesn’t stretch doing the same on paper. If you like the film then this book is the film and not much else. There are much better zombie books out there but not many better zombie films so just watch the film and give this a body swerve unless you are trapped in your basement with the undead surrounding you and there isn’t anything else for you to do.
Meh!
