Summary

Ex-CIA master assassin Court Gentry has always prided himself on his ability to disappear at will, to fly below the radar and exist in the shadows - to survive as the near-mythical Gray Man. But when he takes revenge upon a former employer who betrayed him, he exposes himself to something he’s never had to face before.

A killer who is just like him.

Code-named Dead Eye, Russell Whitlock is a graduate of the same ultra-secret Autonomous Asset Program that trained and once controlled Gentry. But now, Whitlock is a free agent who has been directed to terminate his fellow student of death. He knows how his target thinks, how he moves, and how he kills. And he knows the best way to do the job is to make Gentry run for his life - right up until the moment Dead Eye finally ends it.

Brilliant...

The Grey Man series has been extremely compelling and utterly absorbing, but Dead Eye has to be the best instalment yet.
Gentry finds himself being played by someone with a similar background to his. Someone who wants to be like Gentry, and to be as renowned as him too. It soon becomes apparent to Gentry that the situations he finds himself in, and the seemingly impossible ways out of those situations that present themselves are all staged..
The race is on for Gentry to find out why..
Superb narration from Jay Snyder.

Grey man making the impossible possible

Nicely knitted masterpiece of macho imagination, whilst improbable a great yarn and excellently narrated. keeping the series going at this quality will be a challenge.

The Best Grey Man Novel so far

The Grey man is a special individual. He lives a somewhat sad and lonely existence, constantly trying be one step ahead of those who are out for his blood, while simultaneously working as a hitman, killing those who are deemed to be in the lower echelons of humanity. A hitman with a conscience, if that's possible.
This book for me, was the best so far in the grey man series. The story line was excellent, and I was not expecting it when I read the blurb. It has plenty of twists and turns, and it brings you along at just the right pace.
Once again, the downside of this book was the narrator. His accents are not very good, and he makes people sound like they are straight out of a cheesy movie.
I am already looking forward to the next in the series, as there is a little teaser of what's to come at the the end of this book.

Despite flaws still a hell of a ride

Would you listen to Dead Eye again? Why?

Fast paced and engaging

If you’ve listened to books by Mark Greaney before, how does this one compare?

While this is not the strongest of the Gray Man series it still has redeeming features and it does still have the engagingly flawed character in Court Gentry

Which scene did you most enjoy?

Court's mission to a Russian dacha was fast & furious that finished to soon. I had to go back and relisten.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

While the story and pace generally kept me engaged some of the character inconsistencies and weak spots in the plot stretched my suspension of disbelief. Still it was worth the read.

Any additional comments?

Greaney delivers his usual face paced narrative and a wonderfully engaging character in Court Gentry, that for me had echoes of Ludlum's Jason Bourne. Overall I am still enjoying this series.

Another great Gray Man adventure!

Another gripping story, well written and brilliantly narrated.
I am about to purchase the next book as I find myself addicted to the adventures of Courtland Gentry. I think I slightly preferred the previous books, and book 6 which I read first, accidentally out of order. That said, it's still a gripping story and worth the purchasing.

Unexpectedly good

I wasn’t looking forward to this one as the description was a bit dull and the last book wasn’t the best. However quickly became one of my favourites in this series!
