About this listen
The first is Dominic Caruso, a rookie FBI agent, barely a year out of Quantico, whose decisive actions resolve a particularly brutal kidnap/murder case. The second is Caruso's brother, Brian, a Marine captain just back from his first combat action in Afghanistan, and already a man to watch. And the third is their cousin...a young man named Jack Ryan, Jr.
Jack was raised on intrigue. As his father moved through the ranks of the CIA and then into the White House, Jack received a life course in the world and the way it operates from agents, statesmen, analysts, Secret Service men, and black ops specialists such as John Clark and Ding Chavez. He wants to put it all to work now, but when he knocks on the front door of "the Campus," he finds that nothing has prepared him for what he is about to encounter. For it is indeed a different world out there - and in here. And it is about to become far more dangerous.
©2003 Tom Clancy (P)2003 Books on Tape, Inc.This was my first Clancy book. I have enjoyed the movies. I was a little disappointed. It was well written and progressed at a consistant pace, but the story was dull. The interesting bit I wanted did not happen. No big twist or defining bit of the story. It simply happend and ended. I was shocked when the book ended, I was thinking it was just getting going. I know there are other books in the series and I will give it ago to see if the story continues. Well written by a seasoned writer, just wanted a little more action and interest.
Well written but average story.

The only gripes are with the production.
At least 9 tines, the same phrase was repeated. A bit annoying IMHO.
And the narrators accents for the call girls were "interesting" - initially sounded Scottish, then Liverpudlian, then Brummie. Actually chuckled at that
Great book, shame about the production

His pronunciation of some words caused me to replay the word to see if I'd actually heard correctly!
His Mexican accent is definitely Irish!
And the editor for this performance must have had the week off as there were so many times when the same line was repeated.
All in all, the book was good enough for me to want to listen to the end, but I certainly would avoid any other books narrated by this reader!
Diabolical narrator!
