Summary
And that doesn't make her too dateable. And then along comes Bill: he's tall, he's dark and he's handsome - and Sookie can't 'hear' a word he's thinking. He's exactly the type of guy she's been waiting all her life for. But Bill has a disability of his own: he's fussy about his food, he doesn't like suntans, and he's never around during the day....Yep, Bill's a vampire.
Worse than that, he hangs with a seriously creepy crowd, with a reputation for trouble - of the murderous kind. And then one of Sookie's colleagues at the bar is killed, and it's beginning to look like Sookie might be the next victim....

Wow!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, assuming they liked slightly raunchy supernatural stories. Engaging story, an appealing main character and delightfully performed. The reader really drew me in, with her accent, timing, and the way she portrayed the emotions underlying the scene.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Dead Until Dark?
No particular moment stands out in my memory. I enjoyed it all.
Which scene did you most enjoy?
See above.
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It made me smile quite a few times, but I was listening during my daily commute on busy roads.
Any additional comments?
Good story, perfectly performed. I felt really engaged by Sookie's character.

BING listened to all 13 books in under 2 weeks
If like me you watched the true blood seriers and never felt the need to read or listen to the sookie stackhouse books ... Please reconsider. The books differ considerably in the story lines and character developments. I have truly loved these books and was driven to listen to all 13 and am sad that I have come to the end ...... I won't spoil the ending but I have to say I was routing for a different conclusion while knowing that it could not be. Happy listening

Faerie story for grown ups
What about Johanna Parker’s performance did you like?
That wonderful southern accent that would make a shopping list interesting.
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I giggled my way through out, Sookie is sweet but not sickly and the part where you discover what had happened to her when a little girl - wow very emotional but understated. Sookie is my hero.
Any additional comments?
I haven't seen the TV series but I have a very strong image in my mind of the characters.
This is a series of audio books I shall be listening to again and again.

It's all in the voice.
I love this series and think the writing is excellent; however the narrator's voice can make or break an audio book. Luckily, we get the voice of Johanna Parker who becomes Sookie and the rest of the cast effortlessly, leaving the listener free to focus on the story which is full of drama and dark humour. This is definitely a book, and series, worth your time.

One bite and you’ll be addicted
To be quite honest I’m a little biased, the southern vampire mystery’s are my all time favourite books. Johanna Parker has a voice that’s easy to listen to and helps bring the world to life.

great story and we'll performed.
One of my favourite Vampire series when on the TV as "True Blood"
This audio version is equally good and Johanna Parker's natation brings the story to life.
Look forward to hearing more in the series.
