Summary
Adam Ferranti was drinking away his waking hours, getting by in a regional newspaper in the North of England. A talented American journalist, he moved to England to escape the media glare that followed his spectacular fall from grace at the Washington Post, only to be thrust back in it when a mysterious serial killer decides to make him his confidante.

Good story with complexities and characters
Very well narrated, believable characters and a good story that kept me guessing. Very much recommended.

Great start
having already read the book I found the audible version added more to the story. I listen in the car mostly and you know it's a winner when you arrive home and sit on the drive listening to the end of the chapter. this is one of those books.

Too complex for an audiobook
My main gripe with this book is that it is so complicated, lots of plot lines and dozens of characters. Maybe ok with a paper book where you can quickly refer back to remember who a particular character is, but not really possible with an audiobook. As for the story, I almost gave up by chapter 8, as it was full of (to my mind) irrelevant back stories for many of the characters. I like a story to move along at pace. However after chapter 9, it started to get moving and a long complicated story unfolded. Lots of murders by many different factions , all eventually coming together for the final reveal. However, I found this to be disappointing, but I won't spoil it here. The book has a very complex plot, with many interweaving stories, so if you like that sort of thing, fine, but not really for me. The narration was excellent, with many different accents identifying the various characters.

Aptly named.
Once I started listening that was it! Completed in 24hrs as I had to know what was happening next and how did it all fit in the complex, clever, psychological, who dunnit thriller.
This guy can tell a story.
Highly recommend.

twist
Loved the narration of Ruth Redman, who brings out the action .
DS Stephanie Walker is tough, strong and determined and works for the West Yorkshire Police. Stephanie is hiding a secret from her colleagues, one that she believes will change how will see her. She is a victim of domestic violence.
Adam Ferranti is a journalist, who is in contact with someone who information relating to a serial killer and his victims. He only takes the information to the police when someone he knows is killed.
This is dark, gruesome and has twists .

Wow! Addictive or what?
This is a brilliant listen that kept me glued to my player! Just couldn't put it down. My first foray in to Geoff Major's work and hopefully not my last. Full of twists and turns to keep you guessing to the very end. Great cast of characters and well described locations. Highly recommended. Ruth Redman's narration was excellent and brought the story to life. Well worth it's 5 stars ****
I was kindly given a copy of the book by the publishers and leave this honest review.
