About this listen

The Tartan Army. The Hampden Roar. The Auld Enemy. Following Scotland can be a thrilling, heart-breaking, and exhilarating experience.

Scottish legend AllyMcCoist has always been proud of his country's footballing legacy. After all, Scotland has the oldest international team and the oldest sporting trophy. Some even say Scotland is the true home of football...

In Dear Scotland, Ally takes the reader on an unforgettable journey through the Alba. He spends time with the best fans in the world, celebrates legends like Jock Stein and Kenny Dalglish, and relives some of the most iconic moments in Scottish history.

Reflecting on his own call up with the team and scoring that goal against Switzerland, to dressing room antics on tour and travelling with the Tartan Army, Ally recalls the memorable characters, unforgettable moments, and side-splitting stories that have shaped his own experiences.

Dear Scotland is a hilarious and heartfelt love letter and a tribute to being a lifelong, and sometimes long-suffering, footy fan. It reminds us why we love the thrill and madness of following Scotland.

Where’s Ally?

Dropped the ball not having Ally read the audiobook. The narrator did a fine job but couldn’t ever be as good as hearing the words in Ally’s voice would have been.

Passionate and very funny

I am a self-confessed Coisty fanatic so I am already decidedly biased.

Don't expect to find within this book, any deep insight into the life of this deeply private man, but

Superb Listen from British Football Great

Ally’s journey through life is like an education in what made British football what is today. One of football’s true characters, a great player, captain of his country, with 2 European golden boots but with a modest humility that endears to him to all and a zest for life that make this audiobook a really engaging listen and genuinely funny aswell. A proud Scotsman and Rangers Icon who post playing days has become one of if not the best co-commentators in the business. This is a great audiobook full of laughter, memories, great anecdotes and wisdom gleamed from working with some of the best managers in the business and from his own life experiences.

Heartwarming love letter to Scotland

Loved this fun, sincere and lyrical set of tales from Mr McCoist. His love for the Scottish people, Scottish team and Scotland itself shines through. You'll laugh, cry and cheer along with him. Beautifully read as well.

Ally’s love for all things Scottish

Great, non stop listening nothing like a football book I was hooked from first spoken word. When is the sequel out?

Super Ally, Super Stories

Disappointing that the book wasn't read by Ally himself as I think the narrater struggles to carry off some of the stories within this book. Many of the stories are retellings of what we have heard on podcasts and chat shows in recent years but there are some fresh gems to be uncovered throughout the book. The chapter dedicated to Walter Smith, in particular, is a wonderful and endearing tribute. Overall, well worth a listen and a very easy on at just under 7 hours but I felt this was very much a PG version of the wonderful career and life Ally Mccoist has lived!
