Summary
Another day. Another death. Death du Jour. My God, how many such days would there be? On a bitterly cold march night in Montreal, forensic anthropologist Dr Temperance Brennan is exhuming the remains of a nun proposed for sainthood in the grounds of an old church. Just hours later, Tempe is called to the scene of a horrific arson. A young family has perished, and there seems to be no witness, no motive, and no explanation. From the charred remains of the inferno, to a trail of sinister cult activity and a terrifying showdown during an ice storm, Tempe faces a nerve-shattering test of both her forensic expertise and her instinct for survival.

My first book in the series. This is so much better than the tv series.
Looking forward to hearing more.

A brilliant story with some excellent twists, fabulously performed
I listened to this story as an audiobook, and Bonnie Hurren narrated and performed the story beautifully, really bringing both it and the characters to life. Full of mystery, cults, murder, missing people, nutty sisters, a saint and a sprinkling of romance, this is a brilliant story, with some excellent twists. I highly recommend it to mystery lovers, as well as Reichs fans.

Great Book loved the story
I absolutely loved this book, the only thing that I can complain about is the narrator she sounded quite robotic however the story is just so good it soon becomes tolerable.

exciting stuff
I haven't read the Tempe series in order and went back to this one. Really not impressed by the narration by comparison to later ones. characterisation voices were poor and on a number of occasions were confusing. BUT the storyline was excellent and one of the best. Great scene setting for many of the people in Tempe 's life and not to be missed. so worth persevering even if,like me, you don't get on with the narrator.

Loved it.
Great characters, complex plot. For a second novel this is accomplished work. I admire the way she sticks to giving technical detail without compromise.
