Summary

Forced to go into witness protection, ATF Special Agent Thayne Wolfe is less than thrilled. The state's attorney needs him to testify against one of the most ruthless and notorious arms dealers in the world. Expecting boredom and lots of daytime television, he instead ends up with a ridiculous new job, a stupid new name, and the world's most annoying shadow. Jarrett Evans is tasked with keeping Wolfe alive long enough to put Mills Lang and his crew away for the rest of their miserable lives.

Jarrett Evans, former Marine, has always been a free spirit, doing the dirty work for Uncle Sam whenever and wherever he's needed. One of the best snipers in the world, Evans is at peace with the man he's become. That doesn't mean he's ever liked the cold-blooded killer who stares back at him from the mirror every day. The moment he meets pretty boy Thayne Wolfe, things start a slow change and redemption begins to sound possible.

Mills Lang, the world's most ruthless arms dealer, is little more than a serial killer in his own right. Rotting away in prison with nothing but time on his hands, Lang is determined to destroy the man he allowed into his inner circle. Thayne Wolfe will die in the most painful way, along with anyone he loves.

ATF Agent needs bodyguard

We meet ATF agent Thayne Wolfe, who has just finished a dangerous undercover assignment, and finds himself in need of sexy bodyguard Jarrett Evans' protection. Evans made an appearance in Patricia Logan's Bodyguard series. The two men hide out in a salon before being forced to go on the run from an assassin who is trying to kill Thayne before he can testify against a despicable arms dealer. I love this series and look forward to hearing the other 5 books in audio.

Fantastic Read

I can’t recommend this book enough, I’d you like crime novels this story line has you on the edge of your seat, with a side offering of hot, hot, hot in the two main characters Thayne Wolfe and Jarrett Evans.

Great series

First book in the series. The narration has a bit of a monotone to it to start but this is greatly improved in the following books. Fans of Abigail Rouxs Cut and Run series will love this.

Good narration.

Decent story line. Michael Oakley did a good job of narration. Recommended if you like a good mystery/thriller.

Action packed...

Really enjoyed the story, the plot was good and the characters likeable. There were quite a few sex scenes which I felt the story didn't need, mainly because there was a killer on their tail. I just wanted the plot to unravel but the characters decided to make out instead.

The narrator's voice really grew on me, and I loved his narration by the end of the book.

Overall though, this book is well worth listening to.

This would be good if it weren't so familiar.

The reader has a pleasant voice but has a flat rhythm, pitch and intonation. Consequently the reading is very passionless and a bit robotic. The lack is a downward intonation at the end of a sentence is particularly deadening.
