Summary

Diary of an Artist in Love is an intimate new audiobook of prose poetry and music best listened to with headphones on and eyes closed. The Muse Frequency presents listeners with a calming and ethereal meditation on love. Throughout this profoundly serene and uplifting experience, the artist and sound designer gently coax us into a meditative state using Solfeggio frequencies and by communicating in the most direct possible way through a sacred one-on-one conversation.

Originally inspired by the work of diarist Anaïs Nin, The Muse Frequency aims to design an audio experience that feels confessional and personal. At the heart of it all, this wholly unique project creates intimate experiences meant for one listener, where they can close their eyes, shut out the rest of the world and drift off to beautiful places. (Please note: this recording includes music and sound design, plus the narrator speaks very softly, in hushed tones which have been compared to ASMR.)

very relaxing.

I don't listen to audiobooks very often because I tend to fall asleep when I do, so I generally only do so when I'm walking or on the bus.

Despite that, I laid down on my bed, closed my eyes, and immersed myself in this poetry. I didn't fall asleep, but I did relax in a way I haven't for a long time.

The words that were spoken were beautiful and so true.

The background music added to the ambience, although it could have done with being a tiny bit quieter as the voice reading the poetry is quite breathy and quiet. Definitely good ASMR!

Relaxing track

Having read this book of poetry last month listening to it is a completely different experience.

Listening to these poems on love felt like a very intimate experience almost like listening to a couple whispering to each other.

This would be good to listen to for meditation purposes due to the whispering nature of the narrators voice and the relaxing background sounds.

Relaxing!

This is the first audiobook I have ever listened too so I was intrigued to see how I faired.

When I was pregnant with my daughter, I went to some Hypnobirthing classes, and in these classes, we had access to beautiful sounding meditation tracks and affirmation sessions to books positivity towards birth.

As a result, and if I'm honest, I had immediate meditation/affirmation vibes, especially with the choice of backing music and the individual speaking. I started listening, and it took me right back to those Hypnobirthing sessions - good times, by the way!

I've heard mixed views on the choice of speaker, but I honestly didn't mind her choice of tone, etc, as it felt to me like it was an attempt to relax you... Again, my mind kept wandering back to how it felt like I was listening to love affirmations.

The poems themselves were lovely and poignant, all primarily about love, so they were lovely to hear.

If you:
❤️ Love audiobooks
❤️ Are practicing Hyonobirthing
❤️ Enjoy practicing affirmations
❤️ Enjoy meditating
.... then I highly recommend a read!

Immersive experience of collection of love poems.

Poetry can enhance life and there is little of it around us. This is not rhyming, but word pictures that distill feelings and thoughts into a few syllables. It mainly deals with falling in love and first encounters. It feels credible and personal although the sentiments are shared.

Some warnings are needed, however, and the appeal and access may be limted by these. The accompanying blurb suggests listening through headphones and with your eyes closed. I think the hypnotic quality and the soundtrack, which I think is aiming for an AMSR experience, could make this a dangerous listen whilst driving. It is fortunate that an accompanying PDF gives you the text of the chapters, each one intended as a poem. The poems are read by a female in breathy whisper throughout and the music often drowns out the words so you have to fully concentrate upon them. You cannot with eyes closed read the words. Sharp intakes of breath and gasps are liberally part of the performance and this is only suitable for an adult audience. Based upon the works of Anais Ninn, there are many descriptions of physical intimacy. I found the "Love is .... so often repeated that it became boring. The "chapters" were not well separated and only a few introduced so the merging contributed to sameness experience. There was no narrative order discernable. Clearly heterosexual allusions could also limit appeal.

Totally immersive experience, such a serene and beautiful listen.

This year I've been keen to branch out of my comfort zone of fantasy reads and try new reads. So I jumped at the chance to listen to the audiobook of this.

And I am so thankful that I did.

Described as "an intimate new audiobook of prose poetry which presents listeners with a calming and ethereal meditation on love".

A collection of 30 poems, 15 of which are entitled Love is...' the audiobook version has the narrator communicate directly with the listener. And wow, does that take this collection to a whole new level.

Serene, uplifting, inspiring! The calming music and Solfeggio frequencies lull you into a sense of complete relaxation, a kind of meditative state where you can best appreciate the words spoken.

An ode to love, gratitude, awareness and appreciation I was deeply moved each time I listened to this.

Definitely one that you will want to revisit time and time again.

Best listened to through headphones and with eyes closed, its impossible to describe the depth of emotion listening to this inspires.

Poetry is something I only delve into sometimes and its beautiful the way it is represented in this audiobook.

A great listen!

This was an enjoyable book, the descriptions of love are so inventive. They encapsulate what love is or can be. I loved the added poems between the love chapters.
I listened to the audiobook version but may have preferred the ebook as it was a bit ASMR for me! I really enjoyed the chapters and how they flowed into each other. It’s really made me think of how I would describe Love and it’s really hard to think of more examples! Would recommend this book for lovers of poems, for people that like a story in a poem with a start, middle and end. It wraps up nicely and I would read this again and it may conjure up other meanings for me on the second read-through. Will have to see!
