About this listen

Includes Wild Rebel, Wild War, and Wild Heart.

We were supposed to run away after high school. When she didn’t show up at our meeting place, I gathered my courage and went after her. It was a mistake. I left bloodied and bruised. My heart didn’t fare half as well.

I had no choice but to walk away.

Years passed. A decade. More. I traveled, settled halfway around the world, and made myself a name and enough money that I didn’t have to look back. But I never got over her. And when my memories got the best of me, I went looking. Put all my effort behind the search. Even the best of the best private eyes couldn’t find the woman I’d deeply loved.

Then, out of the blue, she calls.

And what she asks for, the favor that she wants? I never thought I'd be willing to take a life. But the truth is and always has been: I'd do anything for her.

Fabulous trilogy

Cade and Jolie’s story is one of heartbreak, revenge, and second chances. It’s cleverly plotted, harrowing at times, with some lighthearted ‘Donovan Kincaid’ moments, and it’s riveting throughout! I highly recommend it.

I loved it!

This has been an experience! A story of love, abuse, betrayal, reunion and second chances, I was drawn in from the start. Both narrators, Sebastian York and Elena Wolfe, are superb. They have consumate story telling skills and invest every word with life. 💖💖💖💖💖

Another amazing audible performance by fantastic narrators. They only enhanced another jaw-dropping story by Laurenlin Paige.

I have mixed feelings about this listen. Overall the story was great. Lots going on, lots of secrets being kept, great characters. I liked both Kade and Jolie, loathed Mr and Mrs Stark (which we are obviously meant to do), and very much enjoyed appearances from Kinkaid. There was a lot of intrigue, the story happening in the present and the past as we learned what had happened to them as teenagers and how that translated into the people they found themselves in the present. It’s harrowing and heartbreaking, but also there are lighter moments, and a satisfying ending with a HEA.

What I didn’t like was the constant back and forth as we are drip fed bits of information. For me there was far too much time spent in the past, and the drip feeding was too slow. It was obvious that Jolie had many secrets and the author employed the tactic far too often of teasing us that we might find out more and the snatching it away at the last minute as they were interrupted or one of them decided they didn’t want to know at that point. It was extremely frustrating and spoilt the enjoyment. It made the whole thing very bitty. All of that meant that the book was much longer than it needed to be.

As always SB and EW do amazing jobs at narration. Couldn’t be faulted.

It’s worth a listen, but be prepared to skip chunks - there is only so many times we need to be told about the cruelty.

Frustrating
