About this listen
They say there are three things you should do at least once in your life:
Dance like nobody’s watching.
Travel the world.
And fall hopelessly in love.
I aimed to do all three.
I went to Italy to find myself.
But he found me.
It was like a story book, our eyes met across a crowded room. He asked me if I needed help reading the menu. We ate, we laughed, we danced, and I fell. Unfortunately, things didn’t go to plan, and we parted ways.
Two years later, our eyes meet across a room again.
Only this time I was on a date with another man.
He went crazy in a jealous fit.
But the man I met then is different now.
He’s colder, harder, and officially one of the most powerful men in Italy.
Dare I say it, even more enticing.
But if you dance with the devil, you get burnt.
And the fires in Italy are scalding hot.

Great duet narration
I read this story on Kindle a few years ago and thought it was a bit silly and was annoyed at my waste of time and money. One of my favourite audio books is this authors The Takeover so I bought the ebook because I thought the Italian might be as good. As another reviewer put it there are so many plot holes, unnecessary and strange subplots eg Enrico’s half brother unknowing incestuous relationship with his half sister (why?), and then the half brother taking over the business ( heh?). The storyline seemed so incomplete with Enrico and Olivia’s relationship with his family and it would have been interesting to see Enrico develop his relationship with his half brother.
However, two things redeemed this audiobook - the sweet and measured development of the love story, including each characters human flaws and the amazing narration, which made this book so enjoyable.
I love duet books, especially when the narrators are good. Dane Anderson and Emma Wilder should win Audible Oscars for their performances. Their accents were brilliant, especially as they are American. Emma really showed Olivia’s Australian quirkiness and sense of humour. As for Dane, his deep Italian accent was sexy and swoon worthy. He portrayed Enrico’s passionate, dark and loving nature so well.
A definite 5 stars or. 10 for narration if not for story.

I read the ebook several years ago and it became my favourite TL Swan book along with The Takeover. I never reread the ebook and was surprised by some of the plat details that I had forgotten!
This Duet by Dane and Emma is........SPECTACULAR! THAN YOU for your narration! You both brought the book to life and u am in love all over again with Enrico Ferrara!.
I didn't rush my listening pleasure as I needed to ensure that I didn't miss any clues regarding Juliano & Francesca!

Well written and entertaining, but........
TL Swan writes some great books with great scenarios which keep you gripped. I found The Italian quite addictive however Olivia's character was very confusing.... talk about wide mood swings..... she went from strong woman one minute to winey moany woman with lots of self doubt. Her character also seemed a lot younger than 29. I'm not sure if part of this was the writing or the actress who did the voice over. Enrico was slightly more plausible and the actor who read his part had a sexy voice which fit well. Like some of the other reviews I would have liked to seen some of the other characters pulled through the story. I have lots of questions......

Voices really brought the book to life
Having already read the book and loved it I was interested to see what extra I would get out of the audible version.
It was fantastic the voices brought the characters completely to life. I had a picture in my mind of what the 2 main characters were like adding voices made me feel as though I was there with them.
The books is fabulous to read and fantastic on Audible. Going to the gym to workout is now so much better.
