About this listen
Ages ago, sorcerers of unmatched power sundered a world into four realms—sky, stone, fire, and water—then vanished. Over time, magicians learned to work spells only in their own realms and forgot the others. Now only the few who have survived the Labyrinth and crossed the Death Gate know of the presence of all four realms—and even they have yet to unravel the mysteries of their severed world. . . .
In Arianus, Realm of Sky, humans, elves, and dwarves battle for control of precious water—traversing a world of airborne islands on currents of elven magic and the backs of mammoth dragons. But soon great magical forces will begin to rend the fabric of this delicate land. An assassin will be hired to kill a royal prince—by the king himself. A dwarf will challenge the beliefs of his people—and lead them in rebellion. And a sinister wizard will enact his plan to rule Arianus—a plan that may be felt far beyond the Realm of Sky and into the Death Gate itself.

One of the best fantasy stories and Worlds written
Easily one of the greatest fantasy Worlds ever written with a very unique set of characters and lore that is finally available as an audiobook! Similar to many stories with complicated plot, secrets and twists, this is one of those rare series that gets better with every iteration.
The biggest problem in this series is that many might give up on the series at start, due to how depressing, bleak and multifaceted the story and the World is compared to more lighter and unambitious fantasy works. However, those who manage to push through those early "obstacles", will find a story and World(s) unlike any other.
The narration far exceeded my hopes (so many series recently have been ruined by awful narrators), but it does sadly suffers from some audio quality issues, like it was recorded on a cheap 90s microphone. However, it is not so disturbing as to become an issue, and your brain will soon filter it out

Easily missed.
The first book of a vast new fantasy world, brilliant when it first came out and still holds up today.

Great story marred by a poor narrator
Seriously thinking of refunding this.
I listened to thie original version of this years ago & enjoyed it immensely, so i decided to grab it on here.
I wish i hadn't, as it fits right in with the godawful casting Audible has been doing recently with some of my favourite books. The narrator is horrible, with bad pronounciation & even worse attempts at unneeded accents.
Also, on the technical side of it, the volumes are all over the place, oing so quiet you can barely hear then shockingly loud. Absolutely pitiful that this travesty was let through QA.. Audible need to do better.
