Summary

Contains books one and two of Dream Stream Reality.

Dream Stream Reality, book 1

The only time you can’t game is when you’re sleeping...until now.

Mild-mannered security guards by night. Powerful, magic-wielding heroes by day. Donald and his friends have been chosen to beta test the new version of Dream Stream Reality, a massive multiplayer game world which is played while you sleep. Who wouldn’t want to design their own adventures while napping? It's literally the dream.

Donald must balance an increasingly volatile personal life with exploring the new release and actively hunting for glitches and bugs within technology so advanced it feels like reality. What could possibly go wrong?

The Twilight Hatchling, book 2

Donald and his friends have moved into the all-expenses-paid, plush suite within the DSR Corporation’s headquarters along with several other beta testers. Their lives have certainly taken a turn for the better. Except for Donald’s love life - but at least he has his friends to help him through it. Having a barrel full of laughs while playing games with your friends is a sure-fire way to get over a girl, right?

Once Donald and his friends have all named their new AI’s, they will be able to summon them into the realm of Orbis as familiars. There’s a catch, however. They have no idea what the creatures will be....

Great

Really enjoyed it I thought the story was quite speedy and missed out a bit of depth in places where I would of liked to know more about the characters or the scene but overall I enjoyed it

Really good

I really enjoyed this, it took a little to get used to the very game based style with narration but I soon got totally lost listening to it.

Wonderfully visual, great world building and interesting characters, realistic interactions and great story. Can't wait for future books. I'll be keeping a close eye out. Highly recommend!

Feels like a real group of friends

The chemestry the characters has with each other is the biggest strenght of the book.
The leveling almost feel like a speedrun, which is a welcome change to the stale genre.

phenomenal fast paced fun

the story around a group of adventurers is full of gripping battels, triumphs and losses. there is never a lul in the story telling which is fantastically voiced by Todd Haberkorn. this has been one of the better listens in this genre and has kept me entertained through out.

Love it and then at end of book2. Boring twist.

I am still planning to listen to book 3. was a 9.9 until end of book 2. twist put in is sadly by my standards predictable. It's a flow killer. Hope error is fixed quick in book 3, but not hopeful.

Quality writing and story

Highly recommended! Stick with it through the first ten minutes or so. It's initially a tad laboured but very soon develops into an engaging story.

Actually, I've struggled to find anything of similar quality to Dungeon Crawler Carl. Even many highly-rated audio books have been a struggle to get into. However, this is unexpectedly great in novelty, story, pace and descriptions, and narration.

Very “in game” based but I enjoyed it.

Not my usual read but good. The story was good. Hope there’s another in the series.
