About this listen
Damon has become a monster...sort of.
Betrayed and left for dead by a group of slaving nobles, he thought there was nothing left but to bleed out as he counted the number of bricks on the ceiling. But fate had other plans.
Moments before Damon's death, a gelatinous, gluttonous mimic reveals itself to him. Fearing a more gruesome and horrible death down the mimic’s gullet, Damon offers the food in his pack—sandwiches, cookies, and everything else! Encouraged by the (admittedly forced) generosity, the Mimic fuses with Damon, enhancing his body and transforming him into a half-man half-mimic monstrosity.
Once a poor, down-on-his-luck scout, Damon now has new capabilities far beyond anything anyone on Basania has seen before.
The only problem? His new bodymate’s insatiable hunger for cake...and human flesh.

intersting idea that wasn't explored
and intersting concept, but the story was quite a comon sad bad Luck guy kills the People that are mean to him. woman are plot devices and a lot happens without backstory.
it is written and preformed prety oké and not a bad background listen but not what it could have been.

CAKEEEE!!!!
This was an interesting take on the whole mimic idea and i really enjoyed the simpler almost side quest style of this book. It was like following an old school rpg where you complete individual quests until you progress enough for the story to reach its conclusion.
Overall a great easy to follow story that had some funny parts and a few dark parts making for a solid listen.
Highly reccomended

Sllllooooowwwwww
It’s an ok book felt like a slog to get through and not much really happens it feels like the first few chapters of a normal book just super stretched out oh and all levelling and stats don’t really come into play and the mimics underwhelming which was the selling point for my choice on this book

Promising start :)
I approached this series with no particular expectations, except for the fact that I had high hopes for the audio production. Why, you ask? Well, because it’s a Soundbouth Theatre production, and you can’t really go wrong with those. However, this is my first audiobook with Ryan H. Reid as the main narrator, and wow, I was truly blown away by his voice acting skills. To narrate a book alongside Jeff Hays as your sidekick and manage not to be overshadowed by him is a remarkable feat in itself. I thoroughly enjoyed the performances of all the characters and am overall very impressed with this work.
Furthermore, the story shows promise (although nothing truly exceptional has emerged yet, but we’re only at the beginning), and the characters are genuinely likable. It's a fun and very entertaining listen. By the end of the book, you’ll be eager to dive straight into book 2 - just as I did :)

A great story
This was agreat audiobook. It was a solid enjoyable story which was not predictable but not unbelievable. The characters were good and the voice acting made the main character likeable and relatable. Can't wait to listen to the second one.
