About this listen
Dynamite and Davey: The Explosive Lives of the British Bulldogs is the triumphant but ultimately tragic story of Tom Billington and Davey Boy Smith. Cousins born just a couple of years apart in a small mining town near Wigan, Tom and Davey discovered the art of wrestling as schoolboys. Tom went on to become the Dynamite Kid, arguably the greatest and most pioneering wrestler in history, but his short temper and determination to reach the top of a sport dominated by naturally bigger men would be his undoing.
The more reserved Davey became a global superstar but followed his cousin not just into exceptionalism but into heavy substance abuse as well. Ultimately, the extraordinarily dysfunctional world of pro wrestling would prove too much for the cousins from Golborne--one proud, one naïve. Together they became the best and most influential tag team of their generation. But they could not escape their demons, and their triumphs eventually submitted to their tragedy.
Dynamite and Davey is a gripping cautionary tale.

Brilliant Book but poor narrator
Let’s get this out of the way…
The narrator sounds like this book has been recorded on his phone and not through a microphone. His strong accent made it difficult at times to understand certain words and sometimes sounded like he was mumbling. You can also hear every gulp, sigh, smacking of lips and even you can hear traffic in the background of the audio tracks. Would have preferred a better quality and a narrator with a less strong accent.
The book itself is really insightful and really does show the incredible but tragic lives of the British bulldogs in a very detailed way. As wrestlers 2 of the very best to step into the ring and represent the United Kingdom!

A brilliant story
A great, really entertaining and comprehensive story of one of the best teams of all time. You can see the research that went into this book.
The only drawback is the narration, you can hear pages turned and mouse buttons being clicked. If you can deal with that and the volume changes probably from different recording sessions, you're in for a treat!

Good story well told.
The authors words told in the authors own voice gives the story the gritty, unpolished realism it deserves.

Great story but awful narrator
the story itself is fantastic but the chap narrating it is terrible
you can hear him turning the pages, he often gets names wrong and he sounds like a bunged up 5 year old. one of the most irritating voices ever

A good read for those both familiar to the Bulldogs story as well as those interested in Wrestling history.
A comprehensive look at the lives of the British Bulldogs. As a fan from the early 80s there was a lot that I was familiar with, but plenty of new material from before and after the 'spotlight' years.

Bulldogs forever!
Whilst it wasn't the best produced audio book I've listened to by a long shot, the story itself was great and kept me wanting more. If you are a true wrestling fan then you should absolutely listen to this. Great work

For the 1…2…3
You can tell the author enjoyed writing this book and I loved listening. It is filled with great stories and gives you an insight into both men’s characters. As a wrestling fan I heard some of these stories before but they are so well told I enjoyed hearing them again. I wasn’t a huge fan of either wrestler but I’m going to go back and check out their work to see what I missed. I’ve read most wrestling books and this is in my top five, if not my top three.
