Summary

After accepting a generous opportunity to start afresh, Leslie Wills, eagerly begins his journey to the Scottish Highlands of Elphin, a settled village that sits huddled amongst the mountains. The people are welcoming, and the scenery is breathtaking.
But deep within its Highland paths, a location rests hidden from the public's eye. An atmospheric location that entices you to learn the truth of its troubled past. But once you bear witness to its sights and sounds, its presences will never allow you to forget. Uncover the truth, journeying back to a forgotten time. Echoes of Home, is beautifully crafted into a plot full of secrets and suspicion that will leave you longing for answers. A ghost story, which will haunt you long after it's finished...

Atmospheric and engrossing ghost story

Subtle and haunting story. Full of atmosphere and beautiful words. A constant sense of unease that build to a remarkable and very satisfying conclusion. Beautifully narrated with authentic accents and a tone that suits the complexity of the story. I’d highly recommend.

A sad & beautiful tale

Rounded heartfelt characters and a haunting, sad story set in authentic history. Only a couple of pitfalls for me, could be over descriptive in places and thought a couple of 'twists' in the final chapter were unnecessary and actually took away from the main ghost story.

Quite promising in places but doesn’t really deliver

Interesting story but it sort of promises something more complex or a twist that never comes. The book could have been half as long if it wasn’t for the excess of words - way too many adjectives that make the text feel a little amateurish and clunky. I just could not get on with the narration. He puts in quite a lot of effort but for some reason, tends to loudly gulp or swallow mid-sentence.

Absolutely breathtaking

I had to listen to this gripping tale a second time through right after the first listen. Was gloriously atmospheric and eerie. It was such a sad story which had you rooting for the main character. Brilliant engaging writing and looking forward to the next book by this author.

Gave up after two chapters

So over written as to be laughable - the main character is the sort to say ‘one handled digging implement’ rather than a spade, and the narration continuously makes thumping statements which become a complete distraction - when they list their mother’s happy memories about a church and include ‘the death of her parents’ without irony, you have to wonder if anyone proof read this. Any sort of tension was lost as I was constantly thinking ‘why on earth did you say that???’ so it went straight in the virtual bin!
