Summary

In a world of monsters, a beast slayer confronts a foe more deadly than any creature the world has seen. As the battle draws close, so, too, does the reckoning....

Afflicted by the incessant rot of beasts, the people of Asthradele have never known life without war. The threat of the next Bestial Tide has always been enough to keep the realms united. But what's it all worth if the world is dying?

Seb du Monte is one of the many men and women dedicated to fighting the Tides. As a newly fledged Knight-Questor from a venerable lineage of beast slayers, sworn to protect Asthradele, his journey begins in earnest when he leaves his home to undertake the Questing Rites.

But when a powerful force threatens what he holds dear, all the weaponry, cunning, and training he possesses may not be enough to defeat it.

Fates collide and all will hang in the balance.

a entertaining fantasy adventure

a good story excellently performed. similar to the witcher novels (but not quite as heavy in lore and politics) would recommend, especially if you're a fan of Andrzej Sapkowski's writing.

Peter Kenny is brilliant!

A fine enough story. A good idea but leaves a but to be desired with regards to depth and execution. Perfect narration by Peter Kenny.

Amazing narrator, boring story.

Can recommend as bedtime listen as Peter Kenny's voice will lull you into blissfull slumber.

I won't go so far as calling it plagiarism, but I honestly think it's tip-toeing that line. Of course it's hard to write anything truly original these days, but this book feels like it has sown together very specific elements from The Witcher, Castlevania and Dark Souls, and in general leans heavily on those three. Don't get me wrong, those are great works of fiction and quite complementary to each other, but makes for a story that feels more like fan fiction than a solid story with it's own spine.

It is not horrible, but I feel like I wasted my time and money.
