About this listen
"I'm convinced there are only two ways to influence behavior: You can manipulate it or you can inspire it.
I want to deconstruct what these skills look like to provide listeners with a very clear roadmap for how you can systematically build your skills and ultimately grow the value of emotional capital in your own experience and in the experience of people who look to you every day for leadership.
Welcome to emotional capital." (Dr. Martyn Newman)
Emotional Capitalists: The Ultimate Guide to Developing Emotional Intelligence for Leaders is based on 10 years of empirical psychological research of thousands of the world's most successful business leaders; in it Dr. Newman identifies the seven emotional competencies that set exceptional men and women apart.
Dr. Newman's advice on building Emotional Capital and improving emotional intelligence (EQ) has been sought at the highest levels of leadership worldwide including Sky Broadcasting, Deloitte, Mars, Network Rail, ExxonMobil, and Quiksilver.

- Case studies showing the business ROI of investing in EQ
- Specific tactics for how to use emotional intelligence for professional and personal growth

The building blocks of emotional intelligence
What does Martyn Newman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
Well read by the author.
Any additional comments?
Emotional intelligence matters in management, nothing new there, and there are loads of books about that. But actually developing EQ takes knowledge of all the parts.
Martyn does a solid job of laying out what emotional intelligence actually is... and more importantly, IMO, how to go about developing it.

Great for all 21st Century Leaders
Would you consider the audio edition of Emotional Capitalists to be better than the print version?
I have both and they each serve a purpose, the audio book is great for journeys in the car and Martyn is easy to listen to.
Any additional comments?
This is great book, really insightful and very practical in the methods offered. I loved the section around empathy and the structured approach that enables engagement through thought and responses.
This is a must read for the modern leaders looking to work effectively with others.
Well done Martyn
