No goodbye

When Leonard and Ellie Franks leave London for retirement in secluded Dartmoor everything seems perfect. Until their new life is shattered. One evening Leonard heads outside to fetch firewood - and never returns.

No trace

Nine months later, with the investigation at a dead end, Leonard's family turn to David Raker - a missing persons investigator. Nothing could prepare Raker for what he uncovers.

I couldn’t put it down & I want more.

I found the second book in series by accident, and loved it. After reading number 5 in the series I am thirsty for number 6. This series never lets you down, just when you think you know the story and have all the answers there is a twist, and another twist. I am not even joking when I say brilliant 10/10.

A great listen

Someone recommended this to me, I listened to to it during my daily commute and lunch break walks. I enjoyed it so much, I looked forward to the commute and the walk- which says a lot. The characters were brought alive by the narrator, the only criticism was that the plot became a little ‘rushed’ near the end, but this is a minor comment as it was cleverly played out. I’ve my next one lined up by this author and narrator. Great job!

Over long and boring

The narrators intonations and pauses were really irritating and the book repetitive, like we wouldn't get it the first time and without the 'performance'. Story wasn't bad but needed editing and the daughter bit was just painful to listen to. Read 9 as recommended then started at 1 up to 4 and loved them. 5 such a disappointment, going to take a break from Tim Weaver now.

Dragged on

I don’t think I’ve ever listened to a book that drags on a description for so long. I tried to listen to it twice and just couldn’t bare it

Yawn

I'm listening to the series and it's beginning to bore me. The melodramatic male narrator and the monosyllabic, dreary female narrator made it painful at times. Raker finds himself alone, usually at night, in a building, hears a noise, sees a movement and is then involved in some kind of life or death struggle with such monotonous regularity that any impact, tension or drama is non existent now. I may try one more book. I wouldn't recommend this one to anyone.
