Finished it!! Quite an achievement.
Ms Cleverly knows a thing or two about British society in the 1920's and has crow barred most of it into this novel. Sexism, feminism, homophobia, nepotism, misogyny, STD's, etc etc etc. The somewhat circuitous plot would be a lot shorter without the constant woman-splaining. It would also be somewhat shorter if it had been read a little more swiftly, I was temped to turn up the tempo but as it was after all free, and it was raining.

Fun and interesting story line
If there had been more in the series I would have listened further. Good cosy detective story and well narrated. Sadly seems only one in the series

Outstanding story and performance
It’s the best thing when you find an author you have never heard of who has created a world you don’t want to leave. Even better, there appears to be more books she had written in a different series. If they are even half as good as this one I will be ecstatic. Narrator is to notch.

Well read, no Americanisms.
Others have indicated this story as slow. It suited the academic and historical era. As an East Anglian resident, the setting and flowing story appeals to me. Kept guessing until the end.

A good mystery set alongside social history
I really enjoyed this book - it gave me an insight into the social history of a time before universal suffrage for women set as the backdrop to an intriguing mystery with an interesting cast of characters. I also appreciated the gentle humour and the lovely use of language.
(I did listen at 1.1 speed as I found the original delivery a little slow for me)

Intelligent & engaging
Both in literary quality and plot vastly better than the usual run of murder mysteries. I'd like to hear more of this Cambridge-based detective...

A murder mystery set in Cambridge
I was a little confused by the narrator as I’ve listened to other books spoken by him but once I was used to early 20th century instead of 13th it was fine !! I enjoyed this book, as I know Cambridge well, it was amusing to hear of places like Midsummer Common and Maids Causeway !! I would recommend it as light and easy listening.
