About this listen
Say it with style - on paper or in person.
This book explains why the best writing sounds that way, with hundreds of examples from Lincoln, Churchill, and other masters of the language. Farnsworth shows how small choices about words, sentences, and paragraphs put force into writing and speech that have stood the test of time. This is must for anyone who wants to speak or write with clear, persuasive, enjoyable, unforgettable style.

Superb and fascinating!
I am baffled by the lack of ratings and reviews for this excellent book. Fascinating and almost clinically thorough, "Farnsworth's Classical English Style" examines what makes both spoken and written word powerful and engaging. Abraham Lincoln, Winston Churchill, and Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. are the most heavily featured illustrations of what superb writing and oratory can achieve. In minute detail, Farnsworth explains how and why the choice of words, sentence structure, cadence, and other language devices either help or hinder conveying one's message. The plethora of quoted sources inspires further reading and study. Those interested in language, writing, and oratory will find this book fascinating and immensely helpful.
WARNING: The book is narrated by an American since the author himself is American. (Upon seeing "classical English", I assumed the narrator would be British.) However, while I normally find American English in audiobooks an assault on the ears, John Lescault does, in my humble opinion, a good job and the accent was not an issue for me while listening.

Great information.
Many of the examples in this book are quotes I have collected over the years. Now I know why these quotes are so memorable. it's not just the information, but the way that the information is imparted. Fascinating on many levels.

Better than any English Teacher
I have studied English all the way through to university. Never once have I been taught this.
This confirms that educational institutions have gone to dog-s@&t. They only drain money without bestowing wisdom or knowledge.
Farnsworth teaches you utter basics of English writing and gives excellent examples.
If you are struggling with writing, with forming sentences, listen or read to this book. An epiphany like euphoria will strike you
