About this listen
Detective Superintendent Roy Grace unearths a powerful criminal network in the sinister crime novel Find Them Dead, by award winning author Peter James.
Ending his secondment to London’s Met Police, Roy Grace gets a tip-off about a drugs mastermind operating out of Brighton. On his first day back in his old job, he is called to a seemingly senseless murder.
Gradually, Grace’s investigation draws him into the evil sphere of an utterly ruthless drug dealer on trial. A man prepared to order the death of anyone it takes to enable him to walk free from court.
Sitting in the jury is Meg Magellan, whose daughter's life is being threatened by a stranger who tells her that if she ever wants to see her alive again, it is very simple. At the end of the trial, all she has to do is make sure the jury says just two words . . . Not guilty.
Although the Roy Grace novels can be listened to in any order, Find Them Dead is the sixteenth title in the bestselling series. Discover more of the Brighton detective’s investigations with Left You Dead.
Now a major ITV series, Grace, starring John Simm.

As great as the rest!
I’m loving this series. The characters and storylines are always strong. The narration is excellent too. I’m very much looking forward to the next one being published.

Not one of his best
The narrater was excellent. However, I found the story to be relatively bland in comparison with other Roy Grace books unfortunately

Find Them Dead
Although it is always nice to catch up with DSi Roy Grace this novel centred around a bent legal aid solicitor, Terence Gready's drug trial. At first it dragged, but picked up pace after an hour or so. I'm pretty sure that the character of Meg Magellan was a composite of earlier middle-class female characters. I did find the end to be somewhat abrupt and not all of the loose ends were tied up.
The narrator was excellent and adept at portraying a wide range of male and female characters.

Not your usual Roy Grace
Roy Grace doesn't contribute much to this tale and its probably all the better for that. It's hard to keep interest from flagging in a long running series and Peter James has very cleverly inserted this court room drama into his series to give us something different. Roy, Norman Potting and the rather irritating Cleo are all there but but their tale is taking place in the background rather than the foreground on this occasion. As always there is a lot of attention to the detail (this time on the judicial system) and Daniel Weyman reads this in a slow methodical fashion that keeps us all with him. I thought this absolutely excellent and am glad Peter James has got a grip with his series over the last couple of instalments - I now feel quite confident there is a lot of life left in it yet which is good news for us.
