About this listen
A charming, delightful new regency romance series from author on the rise, Anna Bennett!
She needed a husband of convenience. She got her one true love instead....
Miss Fiona Hartley’s huge dowry should have ensured that finding a husband would be quick. True, she’s a tad older than the average debutante and spends too much time sketching brutally honest character portraits. She desperately needs a husband, so she can access her dowry, lest the man blackmailing her reveals a secret that would ruin her family. So desperate in fact, that she’s willing to do the unthinkable - propose marriage to the most surly, irritable gentleman in town....
As a matter of principle, David Gray, the Earl of Somerdale, avoids two types of women: those who are obviously desperate and those who are stark-raving mad. And it soundly appears Miss Fiona Hartley is both. Yet David can’t help but be drawn to her, and gives her a test - if she can spend one week in his dilapidated estate - the same one that caused his previous fianceé to jilt him - then he’ll consider her proposal. But as the week goes on, Fiona’s refreshing wit finds a way into his heart. What started out as a marriage of convenience has turned into love...but will Fiona have him for the rest of her days?

It was a nice story although very long drawn out... it gets better towards the end and Beverley A Crick is a very good narrator....xx

Re/read without noticing!

Not Quite Heyer!
An interesting read and a great way to while away this pandemic season. A few implausible scenarios, but equally, a few heartwarming ones too!

I inadvertently re-read this without realising it until I was ¾ of the way through it! Not that memorable then,!But still an easy read!
The narrator, Beverley A Crick was very good.

Everything and more.
Discovered this little gem after I was checking books narrated by Beverly A. Crick. Never have I been so happy for an accidental find.
I was very much invested with both the leads and found myself wanting to just continue on listening to this story for weeks.
The story is simple enough to follow and no angst or drama. I did think there would be drama when I reached Chapter 28. I gasped aloud and when I finished that chapter I couldn’t continue listening for a whole day. Just the thought of what was about to happen stopped me and I didn’t want it to happen because of the betrayal and the heart break.
Boy, was I wrong! The leads were so refreshing and didn’t act at all how you would expect them to act. And because of that, I’m off to buy the next book in the series. Dear author, you are wonderful. A breath of fresh air.

A decively "No"
If I had to write everything that is "not righti" n this book, this review would be a very long list of incongruities and anachronisms. Improbable events, absurd and absolutely incredible actions and motivations. A jumble of platitudinous and clichés that hardly combine with each other. Absolutely not recommended.
